Budapest rings in the new year
January 4 brings the Hagyományok Háza (House of Traditions) New Year’s Welcome at Komor Marcell Street 1 in the 9th District, and Hangfogó 2. New Year’s Greeting 25/26 at Páva Street 10–12. On January 6, The Original Golden Voices of Gospel light up Jagelló Street 1–3 in the 12th District with tickets from about $35 to $48. On January 9, the MÁV Symphony Orchestra Cello Ensemble gives a New Year’s Concert at Eötvös Street 10 in Terézváros for about $11. January 10 features Viennese Blood, Hungarian Heart… New Year’s Gala (Bécsi vér, magyar szív…) at Templom Street 2–10 ($24) and a chamber night with the Danube Symphony Chamber Orchestra at Templom Street 12. January 11 stacks up: a major New Year’s Concert at Komor Marcell Street 1, plus an encore edition at the same address later that day. January 13 offers a New Year sound bath in Újbuda (Kardhegy Street 2, about $5). January 14 hosts the György Solti Orchestra – Divertimento Chamber Orchestra gala at Csörsz Street 18 (about $11). January 16 brings the Luminare String Quartet’s Klassz-Pop on 16 Strings at József Attila Square 4 ($20–$24) and a bubbly New Year’s concert with Bori Orbán and Kristóf Pánczél at Pozsonyi Road 58 (about $15). On January 23, Hurray, Hurray! Operetta, Champagne, Love, Hungarian Spirit hits Csepel (Árpád Street 1, about $29). February 27 caps winter with the Grand Chinese New Year Concert at Komor Marcell Street 1.
Győr, Miskolc, Szeged, and the big stages
Győr hosts a New Year operetta and musical gala January 3–4 at Czuczor Gergely Street 7, then January 17 welcomes In Wine, There’s Cheer – New Year Operetta Gala (Borban a vigasság) at Road of the Martyrs of Arad (Aradi vértanúk útja) 16 (about $42). Salgótarján’s New Year’s Gala on January 4 at Main Square (Fő tér) 5 costs about $25. Szeged marks America 250 with a New Year’s concert January 5 at Viktor Vaszy Square (Vaszy Viktor tér) 1 ($12–$25), and Szeged Cathedral hosts the Golden Voices of Gospel on January 13. Miskolc presents the gospel stars January 8 at Rákóczi Street 5, a New Year’s concert January 9–10 at Déryné Street 1, and In Wine, There’s Cheer returns January 24 at Rákóczi Street 5. The Miskolc Symphony Orchestra (Miskolci Szimfonikus Zenekar) travels for a New Year’s concert in Felsőzsolca on January 11 (about $23) and in Emőd on January 16.

January 9: Hurray, Hurray! plays Kiskunlacháza, Kinizsi Pál Street 1 (about $30). Siófok hosts a New Year’s Gala at Main Square (Fő tér) 2, while Gyöngyös pours cheer at Friends’ Square (Barátok tere) 3 with In Wine, There’s Cheer. January 10: Vecsés stages New Year 2026 – Hit Museum (Slágermúzeum) at Telepi Street 43 (about $34); Szolnok’s Musical and Operetta Stars Gala at Tiszaliget Promenade (Tiszaligeti sétány) 2 runs $46–$61; the Dunaharaszti Sports Hall hosts the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra ($25–$31).
