Debrecen’s legendary Antique Market returns in 2025 for its 26th season, luring collectors and curiosity-seekers to the northern closed parking lot of Nagyerdei Stadium (Nagyerdei Stadion, Nagyerdei Park 12). Against the backdrop of autumn leaves or winter chill, expect a treasure trove of antiques, vintage trinkets, artwork, rare coins and medals, old weapons, chic retro furniture, and quirky gift ideas from not-so-distant decades. Book collectors join in the fun, tempting browsers with a selection of old books and recent literary finds.
Dates & Location
Starting in March, Debrecen’s Antique Market sets up shop every second and fourth Sunday of the month, with gates opening at 7:00 AM and closing at 2:00 PM. The remaining dates for 2025 are October 26, November 9 and 23, and December 14. The venue? The northside closed parking area of Nagyerdei Stadium (Nagyerdei Stadion)—a veritable paradise for fans of vintage finds and the bustling market atmosphere.
Getting There & Essentials
Arriving by public transport? Hop on tram 1 or buses 10, 12, 13, 22, or 24; get off at the Klinikák stop and you’re almost there. If you’re driving, parking is a breeze—and it’s free for both vendors and visitors in the stadium’s north public lot.
Market Rules
Rules keep the magic alive: only genuine antiques, retro items, and works of art are eligible for sale. Breaking this rule? Vendors are shown the exit—no questions asked, and spot checks are routine. No new products allowed: if it’s still in packaging or fresh from the factory, this market isn’t for you.
What You’ll Find—and NOT Find
Endless stalls brim with porcelain dinner sets, glassware, silver cutlery, oil paintings, family silver, and even the occasional curious oddity. But certain things are forbidden. Don’t expect to see modern goods, used clothing or outerwear (so leave hopes for a secondhand mink coat at the door), fur hats, purses, scarves, curtains, almost all shoes (except military styles), or technical gadgets like drills or grinders. There’s also a strict ban on cultural artifacts, fossils, firearms, ammunition, explosives, and precious metals. Hungarian law enforces these restrictions strictly.
Vendor Details & Market Etiquette
Stallholders can set up only from 5:00 AM, and teardown must be finished by 3:00 PM, with all spaces left spotless. Reserve a spot ahead of time—it’s required! Long-term vendors can claim their favorite patch, but only if they’re onsite by 6:30 AM. Don’t show up late, or your place goes to someone else. Can’t make a market? Let the organizer know, or risk losing that prime spot.
Selling is only allowed on marked parking bays, preferably with neat presentation on tarps or tables. Green spaces are off limits! Porcelain and glass items must be displayed on tables. Occasional sales from private individuals are permitted, but everyone receives an official receipt for their rental fee.
Atmosphere and Contact
Market etiquette matters—vendors must be courteous to one another, buyers, and the organizer. Cleanliness and classy displays are expected: tent, table, covering, sometimes even a carpet for your antiques. Repeated violations or sales of forbidden items? You’re out.
The event is organized by the FŐNIX Program company under the guidance of László Máté. The team reserves the right to change dates or events as needed. For market fans and avid collectors, there’s just one rule: if you can’t find it here, it probably doesn’t exist!
