Expect family-friendly festivals, folk and craft programs, classical and contemporary music, theater, literature, workshops, and plenty of community events rooted in local heritage—plus weekly clubs running all year for every age group. Accommodation and food-and-drink info accompany key dates to make planning easy.

Gallery tours and hands-on art

On May 20, the Corridor Gallery hosts a guided tour and workshop with artist Dávid Juhász at the Egressy Gábor Leisure Center (Folyosó Galéria and Aula). The 90-minute session unfolds like a creative stroll: an inspiring walk-through, a deep dive into a single focus piece in the lobby, an open conversation on impressions, a playful workshop echoing the featured art, then a pop-up exhibition showing participants’ works with reflections. Free, but registration is required.

Digital skills for seniors

From May 18 to 20, seniors can get up to speed with a digital education series in Ócsa—practical, welcoming, and empowering for everyday tech needs.

Writers in the room

May 22 brings a readers’ meet-up with Anita Tomor, the Hungarian bestseller whose romantic novels and children’s books have built a devoted following. In cooperation with the Tamás Falu City Library (Falu Tamás Városi Könyvtár), the evening opens a window onto her world—how journeys spark settings, how personal moments become plot, and how emotion drives her stories. Expect candid talk on books, life, and the craft—straight from the author.

Classics and a cause

On May 23, the charity piano concert “Classics as Guests” arrives just before Pentecost, a calming moment for classical lovers. Endre Hegedűs, soloist of the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, performs timeless masterworks, with proceeds directed to renovating the Holy Trinity Church garden. Music in service of a good deed—one moving evening.

Fridays get loud—your way

“Hangos Péntek” hits the #abisztró on May 23, May 29, June 5, and June 12. Not every Friday needs a full-blown party—sometimes you just want good conversation, a great drink, and a soundtrack that fits. Each week switches styles: funk, house, techno, retro, or a request show to match the mood.

Clubs that cost nothing—and give a lot

The Egressy Gábor Leisure Center runs free weekly clubs in multiple waves: May 18–23, May 25–30, June 1–6, June 8–13, June 15–20, June 22–27, June 29–July 4, July 6–11, July 13–18, July 20–25, July 27–Aug 1, Aug 3–8, Aug 10–15, Aug 17–22, Aug 24–29, Aug 31–Sept 5, Sept 7–12, Sept 14–19, Sept 21–26, Sept 28–Oct 3, Oct 5–10, Oct 12–17, Oct 19–24, Oct 26–31, Nov 2–7, Nov 9–14, Nov 16–21, Nov 23–28, Nov 30–Dec 5, Dec 7–12, and Dec 14–19. Learn, grow, find your people—no fees, just community.

Have your say, then have a laugh

On May 27 at 14:00, Ócsa’s seniors are invited to the 2nd Participatory Forum—a roundtable on making city life more livable, active, and connected. That evening at 19:00, comedian László Lakatos arrives with his Dumaszínház solo show “Megjöttem” (I’ve Arrived) at the Egressy Gábor Leisure Center. Support act: Olivér Wolf. Tickets: 7,990–9,290 HUF (about 22.20–25.80 USD).

Comedy, apps, and a deadly bride

May 29 serves up the two-act farce “Hullajó Nászéjszaka” (Killer Wedding Night), 2 × 50 minutes, by the HeArt Troupe. Modern love is built on apps—but what if the perfect woman is, well, lethal? A bride whose first three husbands didn’t survive the wedding night, a family trying desperately to stop tragedy, and a father hopelessly in love. It’s a laugh workout that tiptoes along the thin line between protectiveness and paranoia, love and madness.

Wine cellars open, culture turns 50

May 30 is for Orbán Day Open Cellars—stroll, sip, celebrate. The milestone hits full stride the same day: the 50th Ócsa Cultural Days (Ócsai Kulturális Napok), with the Orbán Day open-cellars program from 10:00 all day along the Öreghegy Cellar Row. The 50th jubilee runs May 8–June 5 as a full-spectrum cultural month: rock to opera, folk to “nóta,” plus contemporary genres, with music, literature, theater, health, sport, faith, downtime, and fun for every generation. The detailed schedule rolls out during the celebration—this month is made by and for the community.

Family days and remembrance

May 31 is Children’s Day—packed with playful experiences for kids and grown-ups. June 4 marks the Day of National Unity, with a commemoration in Ócsa.

Teachers, take a bow

June 5 spotlights educators with an evening honoring the everyday heroes who gift knowledge, values, and a future to the next generation. The same night, a Summer-Welcoming Catholic Charity “Batyus” Ball brings a backyard-party vibe—music, chat, good cheer, indoors and out beneath a tent—raising funds for a worthy cause.

Stand-up, tickets, and how to buy

On June 12 at 19:00, comedian Anett Kormos brings her solo set “A nőknek nincs humora” (Women Have No Sense of Humor) to the Egressy Gábor Leisure Center. Tickets are 8,900 HUF (about 24.70 USD), on sale at the center on weekdays 14:30–19:30 or online.

Make, craft, and play all summer

June 22–26 hosts a five-day Waldorf doll-making camp for adults, focused on mindful craft and unhurried technique. Participants create a special large dress-up doll around 40 cm tall (about 15.7 inches)—a process that often subtly mirrors its maker. The workshop unfolds in a supportive, accepting atmosphere at each participant’s pace.
From June 29 to July 3, the Folk House (Tájház) summer day camp welcomes 6–12-year-olds for hands-on heritage fun.

Ócsa’s calendar keeps rolling past summer with the free club series through December—an open invitation to step into a lively, living community.
