For the 82nd time, authentic countryside flavor is taking over the capital as OMÉK (Országos Mezőgazdasági és Élelmiszeripari Kiállítás és Vásár), Hungary’s largest National Agriculture and Food Industry Exhibition and Fair, returns to the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center from September 18 to 21, 2025. This massive biennial event celebrates everything in Hungarian agriculture and food—from the latest in high-tech agricultural solutions to the finest traditional produce—attracting both industry professionals and the public for four vibrant days.
150 Years of Tradition, Countless Flavors
With nearly 150 years of history, OMÉK is more than just a trade show—it’s part family festival, part industry summit. Since 2011, the expo has been held every two years, becoming the premier stage for Hungary’s agriculture and food sectors. All key players gather here: producers, processors, distributors, and major commercial chains. The 2025 expo will put the spotlight on the hard work of farmers while serving as a top platform for making business connections in Hungary and abroad.
Adding international flair, the Hungarian Food Summit (Magyar Élelmiszeripari Csúcstalálkozó) returns alongside OMÉK. After a hugely successful debut two years ago, this B2B event will feature an expected 80 to 100 Hungarian food exporters and around 200 international buyers. It’s a can’t-miss event for anyone seeking fresh business opportunities in the food sector.
Public Days: Food, Family Fun, and More
While professionals get down to business, the weekends are for everyone. Tens of thousands are expected to flock to the pavilions for family activities, food shows, workshops, and Central Europe’s largest small-producers’ market. There’s even a dedicated Hungarikum stand celebrating uniquely Hungarian, top-quality products.
All ages will find something to enjoy and learn—whether it’s discovering new agricultural trends, sampling artisan foods, or participating in hands-on workshops for children and adults.
Focus on Digital Farming and Innovation
One of the hottest topics now is agriculture’s digital transformation. OMÉK 2025 places this front and center, hosting a groundbreaking conference, “Smart Technology, Green Future – Modernization Solutions for Agriculture,” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture (Agrárminisztérium) on opening day.
Experts will explore the latest in agri-digitalization and innovation—European and domestic trends, and the impact of new technology on farming’s future. The event promises engaging roundtable discussions where participants can hear success stories and gather practical solutions for boosting farm productivity, sustainability, and generational renewal. The conference also offers a chance to reflect on the lessons learned so far from the 2023–2027 Common Agricultural Policy.
What’s Where? The Pavilion Breakdown
A PAVILION: The beating heart of OMÉK, home to professional organizations, food industry leaders, agri-tech demonstrations, and the Hungarian Food Business Program. Here, about 80–100 food industry exhibitors await, and B2B meetings heat up during the Hungarian Food Summit. The Ministry’s programs and impressive displays of Hungarian-made agricultural machinery headline this pavilion.
B PAVILION: All about animal showcases—bring your curiosity, but please, not your own pets.
C PAVILION: Conference central, with expert forums, talks, and professional days on September 18–19.
D PAVILION: Where small farmers, family businesses, and local artisans take the spotlight. Check out the MentesFeszt section (for special-diet foods), National Park product badges, and regional producer showcases. The main stage (Nagyszínpad) here features everything from children’s concerts and entertaining lectures to craft workshops.
E PAVILION: The Carpathian Basin’s treasures are on display at this small-producer fair—featuring culinary and cultural wonders from across the region, alongside continuous music, dance, and fashion shows. Demonstrations of ancient crafts and a dazzling parade of Hungarikum (Hungarian specialty) and national treasures—like Hévíz, Tokaji Aszú (Tokaj wine), Acacia honey, Pálinka, Gyulai sausage, Halasi lace makers, Busó (masked figures), Cifraszűr coats, and traditional whip-cracking—await here.
PASSAGE: The vibrant gastro street brims with street food, drinks, food trucks, and a lively atmosphere connecting all the pavilions.
Daily Highlights and Family Programs
The D Stage will buzz with activity every day: expert talks on seed-saving, medicinal herbs, food safety, sustainable gardening, nutrition myths, and farm-to-table living; musical performances from favorites like Smart Band, Alma Band, Buborék Band; folk dances; Disney song shows; and engaging craft sessions.
There will be interactive gardening with TV favorite Marcsi Borbás, folk ensembles, and children’s bands throughout, ensuring visitors are both entertained and educated.
Tickets, Practical Info, and Pet Policy
A daily ticket costs about $2.70, while a family pass (two adults plus children under 18) costs $5.40. Children under six enter free. Enter via HUNGEXPO Gates I or III.
To safeguard animal health and prevent the spread of infectious diseases, attendees are asked to leave pet dogs and cats at home this year. This policy protects both visitors and the animals being exhibited, reflecting responsible pet ownership and OMÉK’s commitment to biosecurity.
