From November 6th to 9th, 2025, City Park’s (Városliget) Vajdahunyad Castle (Vajdahunyad vára) transforms into a breathtaking jungle of color as the Hungarian Orchid Society opens the gates to its wildly popular autumn exhibition. Nature lovers and plant enthusiasts are in for a treat—this year’s show promises an exotic journey around the globe, all through the dazzling lens of orchids.
Orchids from Every Corner Except the Poles
Orchids may skip the poles, but everywhere else—from Asia to Africa and all the way to South America—they thrive, and you can see them all here this November. Expect to discover a kaleidoscope of familiar species and unique hybrids, including several brand new varieties that have recently debuted on the market. The market stalls offer rare and colorful orchids, bromeliads, exciting exotic houseplants, and all the equipment needed to grow them at home. Want to take a piece of paradise home? Judging the Most Beautiful Blooms
One of the real highlights is the orchid competition. Experienced experts judge each contender’s shape, color, health, and rarity, searching for those special plants that outshine the rest. Whether it’s a dazzling color combination or a flawlessly formed flower, only the best make it to the winners’ podium. For growers, a prize is a badge of honor—for visitors, it’s the perfect way to spot world-class beauties in bloom.
Doors are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (the museum’s permanent exhibitions close at 5 p.m.). Last ticket is sold at 5:30 p.m. The organizers reserve the right to alter the schedule or program, so keep an eye out for updates.
