Orosháza is rolling out a cozy, tradition-rich Advent and Christmas lineup for 2025, with candle-lighting ceremonies, family shows, and festive eats across multiple venues around town and in leafy Gyopárosfürdő. The season stretches across December with key moments that invite locals and visitors into an easygoing holiday mood—slow, warm, and very Hungarian.
Key Dates to Circle
The heart of the program beats on Sundays with community candle lightings. The first Advent candle is lit on December 7 in Orosháza, setting the tone for the season. Two more follow on December 14 and December 21, each drawing people together for reflection, song, and low-key celebration. In between, on December 9, the beloved family production Kicsi Gesztenye Klub – Fehér karácsony (Little Chestnut Club – White Christmas) comes to town, a staple for kids and parents who want music, stories, and festive sparkle without the frenzy.
Stay in the Holiday Bubble
If you’re making a weekend of it, the area around the Gyopárosfürdő spa and lake makes it easy to slow down. The Alföld Gyöngye Hotel Superior is tucked inside a 50-hectare (123.6-acre) old-growth park, about 900 meters (2,953 feet) from the Gyógy-, Park- and Élményfürdő complex. It’s quiet and family-friendly, good for wellness seekers, active travelers, and business guests needing a breather.
Prefer downtown vibes? The Brill Hotel Orosháza, a 24-room, three-star spot built in 2014, sits right by the market, main square, and shops—ideal if you’re bouncing between stages and stalls.
Across the lakefront, Hotel Flóra places you roughly 350 meters (1,148 feet) from the thermal, beach, and adventure baths. It’s made for guests who want to move—think walks by the water, swims, and a reset in nature.
Cabins, Lake Air, and Classic Comfort
Looking for that cabin-in-the-woods feeling? Lakeside cabin houses deliver rural calm without giving up proximity to the baths. Another standout: a three-level, mansard-roof hotel right on the Boating Lake shore, about 350–400 meters (1,148–1,312 feet) from the spa. Expect air-conditioned rooms, two wheelchair-accessible units, TV, roomy shower baths, a ground-floor drink bar and dining room, continental breakfast, optional half board with menu choices, and secure parking—even for RVs and caravans.
For all-season wellness, the Hotel Corvus Aqua sits on the Gyopáros lakefront in a pristine, idyllic natural setting. A closed, heated corridor links it directly to the bath complex, sauna park, and medical wing, so you can float from room to steam to treatment without stepping outside. The hotel lies about 2 km (1.24 miles) from downtown Orosháza, with a four-story, elevator-served building and an 80-seat restaurant that spills onto a summer terrace.
Pensions on the lakeshore keep things intimate. One spot even features Varga-land 2, a winterized wooden house split into three separate apartments, each with a kitchen, bathroom, TV, microwave, and fridge. Two apartments have a bedroom built inside an oversized wine barrel—rustic charm dialed up.
Eat, Savor, Repeat
Food anchors the season. Expect homestyle Hungarian cooking, polite service, and full-scale catering for large events—plus a food delivery service if you’re nesting. Several venues sit directly opposite the spa entrance in Gyopárosfürdő, serving both classic Hungarian flavors and playful chef’s specials.
Downstairs at Hotel Corvus Aqua, the restaurant blends Békés County traditions and must-have Hungarikums with international and reform cuisine. The chef brings global experience, while the lakeside setting elevates it all. Air-conditioned seating for up to 80, a Mediterranean-style dining room, and a Tóparti Grill Terrace mean choice views with every course.
One Last Thing
Organizers reserve the right to change times and programs. Keep an eye on updates, layer up for those candlelit Sundays, and let Orosháza’s Advent glow do the rest.
