Nestled in the heart of the Szatmár-Bereg plain, surrounded by the Tisza, Szamos, and Old Túr (Öreg-Túr) rivers, the village of Panyola invites everyone to experience its lively 2025 events. Famous as one of Hungary’s largest orchards, Panyola goes all out: fruit tasting tours, iconic pálinka (fruit brandy) distillery visits in the gorgeous countryside, and a chance to follow the journey of fruit from tree to bottle—dive into the secrets of pálinka making. Don’t miss the traditional Farsang carnival or the vibrant Panyolafest (Panyolafeszt) festival either.
Autumn, Crafts, and Cozy Retreats
On October 25, creative families and kids are warmly welcomed to an autumn crafts workshop at the village Community House. Accommodation options blend rustic comfort and nature: Cibere Guest House is tucked away among the orchards, built mostly from wood. Two rooms, each for eight people (with bathrooms and a kitchen), a double room, and a loft for six with its own bath, all offer a homely base for adventure. The separate 7-bed guest house includes two adjoining rooms for five, an independent two-bed suite, kitchen, and dining area, plus tent camping in the yard with access to outdoor cooking.
Water Adventures and Foodie Finds
Visitors can paddle, canoe, or raft on local rivers. Baking and cooking over open fires or in wood-fired ovens is a must-try, alongside classic Hungarian stews. Gourmet experiences await at Eldoradó Pizza World & Caffe, where the evolving menu satisfies every craving.
Local Hospitality and Medieval Touches
Stay any time of year at cozy Szatmár guesthouses, including the Winkler House Pension in the heart of Bereg. Major events and group gatherings (up to 100 people) are welcome; the inn’s upstairs pension houses 10 guests. Don’t miss the nearby Seven Stars (Het Csillag) Resort & Conference Center in Beregdaróc, right next to a 14th-century Gothic church—a rare blend of medieval heritage and modern leisure at one of the EU’s easternmost points.
Plans may change, but the sense of welcome in Panyola never does!
