Every first Sunday of the month, a massive national livestock fair takes over the Fairgrounds (Vásártér) on Megyeri Road (Megyeri út) in Pécs, drawing breeders, buyers, and animal lovers. In addition, small livestock and hobby animal fairs are held every Sunday, so there’s always something happening for those passionate about animals.
What You Can and Can’t Find
Organizers remind visitors that, by government decree, the sale of dogs, cats, or wild-caught birds is strictly forbidden at the event. Other pets and livestock, however, are available, making it a great spot for anyone looking to expand their farm or find a new hobby animal.

Mark your calendars: small livestock and hobby animal fairs happen on August 17, 24, 31; September 7, 14, 21, 28; October 5, 12, 19, 26; November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; and December 4, 7, 14, 21, 28. The major national livestock fairs will be held on September 7, October 5, November 2, and December 7.
