Found a forest haul? Don’t gamble. Bring your mushrooms to the city market and have them checked by an expert—free of charge. Community mushroom testing is available on-site at the City Market Hall (Városi Vásárcsarnok) in Szombathely.
When to come
Testing hours: Tuesdays and Fridays, 6–10 a.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, 6 a.m.–12 noon. On rainy days, extra hours may be added on Mondays and Thursdays—watch the tester’s notice board and the market’s social media for updates.
Where to find sellers
During testing hours, mushroom vendors set up in the Small Hall (Kiscsarnok), along the first two rows of tables—easy to spot while you’re getting your basket checked.
Safety first
Foragers are welcome during all listed times. Mushroom picking is a joy, but safety comes first—bring your finds to the market and our specialist will examine them for free.
