The 2025 Szarvas Plum Days turn the heart of Körös (Körös) into a three-day celebration of everything plum—from secret recipes, award-winning plum brandies, and handcrafted plum beers to cakes and giant copper cauldrons bubbling with rich plum jam. This festival isn’t just a food-lover’s haven; there are also live concerts, family activities, kids’ programs, and a lively street party. The event kicks off Friday afternoon with a grand parade and an opening ceremony, rolling into a non-stop blend of concerts and traditional festivities until Sunday.
Music, Magic, and More
The Castle Garden (Várkert) Stage offers free shows: on Friday, artists from Cervinus Theater (Cervinus Teátrum), Dóra Danics (Danics Dóra), Soulwave, The Biebers, and DJs like Dandee and Sterbinszky & Mynea light up the evening. Saturday features the “Most Beautiful Kitchen Garden” contest, a recipe showdown, and musical acts from Szandi, Zsuzsi Kollányi (Kollányi Zsuzsi), norB, and Animal Cannibals. Sunday keeps spirits high with Slowhands, Mario the Accordionist (Márió), magician Magician Lui (Bűvész Lui), and Familiar Faces (Ismerős Arcok).
Street Bands and Star Performers
Saint Stephen Park (Szent István Park) hosts bands like Bad System, BANDeRass, MobilMania (MobilMánia), and Gergő Oláh & Roma Soul (Oláh Gergő & Roma Soul). The main stage (ticketed, at Church Square [Templom tér]) features Majka, Dr. BRS, Lili Regan (Regán Lili), Follow the Flow, Lotfi Begi, and DJ Yamina.
Culinary Shows and Brandy Masters
Don’t miss Béla Prohászka’s (Prohászka Béla) live kitchen, where you can taste plum delights as they’re made. The famed brandy/pálinka contest invites you to enter with 17 oz of your finest plum or fruit spirits. From September 12 to 14, Szarvas becomes plum party central.
