Looking for some magic for the kids—or a dose of nostalgia for yourself? BábszínTér Társulat has just unveiled its 2025 puppet theater schedule for Kaposvár’s Vaszary Park, promising laughter and creativity all year long. Expect matinée performances, shows for babies, preschool and school groups, even plays for grown-ups, plus subscription packages if you can’t get enough of the curtain calls.
October: Puppets Hit the Road and Kick Off the Holidays
The fun begins October 20 with “Vitéz László és az elátkozott malom” (Vitéz László and the Cursed Mill) brought to life by János Pályi as part of the Határtalanul Program in Uzhhorod (Ungvár), Transcarpathia (Kárpátalja). From October 24-29, the popular Holiday Playhouse runs daily until 1 PM. On October 26, there’s a Sunday family matinée featuring crafts at 10 AM and a performance of “Malac és Liba” (Pig and Goose) at 11 AM by the Kabóca Puppet Theater.
November: Little Bear Takes the Stage
Families can catch “Boribon” (Boribon the Little Bear) live on November 9, with a series of subscription preschooler performances every morning from November 10 to 13 by Harlekin Puppet Theater. More “Vitéz László” awaits in Kozármisleny on November 26, followed by the Fabók Mancsi Puppet Theater’s festive play “Ha betér az Égi Király” (If the Heavenly King Arrives) on November 30.
December: Robin Hood, Santa, and Christmas Crafts
December delights include a Mikulás (Santa) matinée with “Robin Hood” on December 7, plus school and evening shows in the following days by Kabóca Puppet Theater. The holiday spirit continues with Christmas craft-making on December 14 and 21, and wraps up with a Christmas matinée full of puppet magic on December 28.
