For the 29th time, Cegléd’s (Cegléd) iconic Kossuth Square (Kossuth tér) and Eötvös Square (Eötvös tér) will come alive with the Kossuth Recruiting Festival and Hussar Festival, running from September 18–20, 2025. It’s a big tribute to the famous 1848 recruiting speech that helped spark Hungary’s revolution.
Festival Fever in Kossuth’s Hometown
Expect a packed schedule: poetry slams and oratory contests, an in-depth Kossuth-themed conference, and a colorful, tradition-filled parade featuring historical reenactors and hussars in stunning uniforms. The legendary hussar camp invites visitors to step into the boots of 19th-century cavalrymen, see their daily routines, and even join a lively beard competition where spectacular facial hair is the norm.
Fun for All Ages
Kids can get in on the recruiting action with special activities, while adults can enjoy concerts day and night, showcasing everything from pop to world music. It’s a high-energy celebration of Hungarian patriotism, history, and culture—don’t miss out!
