Time After Time

Tuesday, January 27, 2026, 7:00 PM
A son discovers his father keeps a monumental secret. What it is unfolds on stage. This intimate, heart-stirring story explores what happens when someone gets the chance to revisit moments from the past — and maybe alter the future. It’s about human choices, the weight of love and loss, and learning to treasure the everyday. Gentle, wry, melancholic, and grounded in the idea that life’s magic isn’t fixing the past, but living the present. Not recommended for under 16s.

American Comedy

Wednesday, January 28, 2026, 7:00 PM
New York, 1938. Aboard the luxury ship La Paz en route to Monte Carlo, a workaholic, sour young businesswoman collides with a charming adventurer. The deck fills with outsized characters: Tony’s degenerate money-aristocrat fiancé, a brutal wife and her terrorized husband, a hesitant secretary transformed twice by a Tibetan singing bowl, and Tony’s unstoppable mother determined to look at least ten years younger than her daughter. Everyone’s fleeing something — or chasing someone. Big money’s at stake, hearts become toys, and swing music rages across the ocean liner, channeling the brightest golden era of jazz.
Revived from its former smash run, back since 2025 at Veres 1 Theatre (Veres 1 Színház). Based on Károly Aszlányi’s comedy, with libretto and lyrics by Attila Lőrinczy and music by Bálint Bársony, the Artisjus and Fonogram-winning composer and saxophonist. Brimful of humor from start to finish, newly directed by Károly Peller.

Pros
+
Family-friendly picks like the Carnival Concert and operettas make it easy to bring kids or older relatives, while the hall itself is comfy and modern
+
The Győr Philharmonic and names like Beethoven, Haydn, Kodály, and Steve Hackett are internationally known, so you’ll recognize a lot even if you’re new to Hungarian culture
+
Győr is a charming, mid-sized city between Budapest and Vienna, already on some tourist radars and great for a cultural day trip
+
You can get by without Hungarian: classical programs are universal, and operetta/music vibes carry the story; staff in venues often speak basic English
+
Easy access: frequent trains from Budapest and Vienna to Győr, then short local transit or taxi to Richter Hall; driving is straightforward with nearby parking
+
Pricing in Hungary is typically gentler than in the U.S. or Western Europe, so you can catch multiple shows without breaking the bank
+
Compared to similar events abroad, the mix of Central European operetta, classical heavy-hitters, and a Genesis guitar legend is a rare, fun blend
Cons
Some theater pieces (like Time After Time or Hungarian operettas) rely on Hungarian dialogue, so jokes and plot points can be missed without supertitles
Győr isn’t as famous as Budapest or Vienna, so first-timers may need extra planning for lodging, dining, and late-night transport
Family-friendliness varies: Time After Time is 16+ and some late shows run past typical kid bedtimes
Winter timing (Jan–Feb) means cold weather and possible travel delays, with fewer non-theater tourist activities in peak form
