Győr’s Richter Hall is gearing up for a packed 2025–2026 season, rolling out concerts, operettas, theater, and comic chaos for anyone who loves live culture done right. Home to the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra and named after the city’s world-famous conductor János Richter, the venue combines heritage with slick modernity: a soundproof, air-conditioned rehearsal studio on the second floor spans roughly 1,076 square feet, drenched in beautiful light and built for serious music-making. A nagymama (The Grandmother)

Gergely Csiky’s A nagymama brims with gentle humor, twists, and emotional stakes. A seemingly modest young man applies to be an Italian teacher at a girls’ school and earns everyone’s trust—except Professor Szilárd Tódorka, who knows he’s actually the young Count Szerémi in disguise, driven there by love. Tódorka plans to tell all to the boy’s grandmother, the formidable Countess Szerémi. When the Grandmother arrives to inspect the “Italian teacher,” she interrogates her grandson privately. Determined to help the lovers—haunted by her own lifelong heartbreak after being separated from her beloved—she wades into a tangle of old family knots. Who ends up with whom, and who finally finds happiness, is the heart of the play.

Mágnás Miska (Magnate Miska)

Premiered in February 1916, Albert Szirmai and Károly Bakonyi’s smash operetta follows Miska, a stable boy transformed into “Count Tasziló” in tails by railroad engineer István Baracs. The ruse aims to punish Count Korláthy for trying to twist the railway route for self-interest at the villagers’ expense. Meanwhile, Baracs and Korláthy’s daughter fall in love at a village fair—until class divides inside the manor threaten everything. When Tasziló is unmasked, high society blushes, and Rolla happily chooses Baracs. Expect classics like Cintányéros cudar világ, Úgy szeretnék boldog lenni, and Hoppsza Sári.
