Blinken OSA Archivum is hosting the first major exhibition exploring the largely forgotten work of Transylvanian photographer-journalist Lajos Erdélyi (Erdélyi Lajos). He was more than a photojournalist—he was also a heritage preserver—offering a raw look at Romania during the Ceaușescu era, capturing the harsh realities from Nagyvárad (Oradea) all the way to the Danube Delta. Even during official assignments, Erdélyi maintained his independence, using his camera to reveal the true state of his homeland instead of just following orders.
Exhibition Details
About 200 photographs are on display, alongside original manuscripts, letters, press materials, and personal items that provide a fuller picture of Erdélyi’s unique vision and daily life. The show invites visitors to experience Romania’s complex past up close, thanks to Erdélyi’s personal perspective.
How to Visit
The exhibition is open to the public for free at Blinken OSA Archivum (1051 Budapest, 32 Arany János Street (Arany János u. 32.)) from June 19 to October 26, 2025.
