If you’re fascinated by ocean creatures, the Budapest Tropicarium has you covered all year with a packed lineup of interactive feeding shows. Want to watch a sand tiger shark gulp down its lunch? Interested in the bizarre eating habits of snakes? At this one-of-a-kind “shark zoo,” you can witness, and sometimes even take part in, the animals’ mealtimes.
Feeding Frenzy Schedule
Feeding times guarantee lively spectacles throughout the week:
On Mondays at 2 PM, it’s the snakes’ turn, while on the third Monday of every month at 2:30 PM, the alligator takes center stage. Wednesdays at 2 PM, meet the monitor lizard. Thursdays bring the can’t-miss shark feeding at 2:30 PM, and on Fridays at 3:30 PM, you can watch the energetic tamarins eat. Monkey feeding is typically at 11:30 AM–noon, and again from 3:30–4 PM.
Get Up Close and Personal
In the rainforest zone, visitors can feed koi carp living next to the alligator with feed bought from on-site machines. On guided tours, guests are invited to observe piranhas and to feed rays, monkeys, and exotic birds under the supervision of keepers. There’s a hands-on ray pool where everyone can pet and, with help, feed these graceful swimmers.
Shark Tunnel and Rainforest Deluge
The 39-foot (12-meter) underwater tunnel brings you face-to-face with tiger and brown sharks. On Thursdays at 3 PM, divers hand-feed sharks in adrenaline-pumping live displays. Overhead, tropical rain falls every fifteen minutes where the alligators lounge. The Tropicarium features exotic reptiles, amphibians, monkeys, thousands of fish, and those legendary sharks—making every visit unforgettable. Schedules may change, so check ahead.
