Running 50 minutes, the play unfolds as a folk-tale meetup in a gloomy princess’s living room. A public notice rings out: the king’s only daughter is perilously sad. No smile has crossed her face since time began. Urgent help needed! Send in joke masters, brave goatherds, scatterbrained heroes, or rascal charlatans. Whoever makes her laugh wins her hand and half the kingdom. Attempts flop—until a mysterious shepherd arrives with a golden-fleeced lamb.
