The Sopron region and the picture-perfect shores of Lake Neusiedl (Fertő) pack the 2026 calendar with festivals, concerts, exhibitions, food pop-ups, runs, boat trips, and family days—from spring rambles to summer blowouts and autumn wine tastings. Base yourself in Balf, Harka, Hegykő, Fertőrákos, Fertőszentmiklós, or Sopronkövesd, and build a long weekend around nature, culture, and generous glasses of spritzers (fröccs).
Spring rides, safaris, and village vibes
Kick off on April 23 with a panoramic bike tour across the Fertő landscape from Balf’s Csárdakapui-főcsatorna, returning on April 25. Track birds and wetlands on recurring Hanyi safaris (April 24; May 8, 15, 22, 29; June 5, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26; July 1). On April 25, raise a glass at the Charity Spritzer Party on the Harka Spritzer Terrace (Harkai Fröccsterasz). Raise the maypole in Hegykő on April 30, then stay for the May Day bash on May 1, alongside the 11th Fertőszentmiklós City Run. Paddle or glide: electric boat cruises “By E-Boat on Lake Neusiedl” (“E-Hajóval a Fertőn”) depart from Fertőrákos on May 2, 7, 14, 16, 21, 28, 30 and throughout June (4, 9, 11, 18, 20, 25). Explore the reeds by canoe from Balf on May 7, 14, 21, 28; June 16, 18, 23, 25. Lace up for the Panoráma Run (Panorámafutás) in Fertőrákos on May 10. On May 16, join Legendary Fertő Region X (Legendás Fertő-táj X) from the Kőfejtő bus stop. Wine lovers: the St. Urban’s Day Wine Selection pours in Hegykő on May 21.
Early summer festivals and music
Cycle “Along the Chapels’ Route…” (“Kápolnák útján…”) on May 30 in Sopronkövesd. Children’s Day pops up in Hegykő on June 7. Hegykő hosts the 1 Drop Festival (1 Csepp Fesztivál) from June 12–14. On June 21, Fertőrákos stages Somewhere in America – Bon-Bon 30, followed by the Roby Lakatos Gypsy Jazz Project on June 27.
