Discover Hungary’s largest regional open-air ethnographic museum in Sóstó, where living traditions meet hands-on fun. The Sóstó Museum Village immerses you in rural life as it was 150 years ago, from the everyday grit of the Árpád era to the best of peasant traditions. For 2025, the schedule is packed with programs anyone can join—whether you have kids with you, love folk culture, or are simply tired of staring at screens all weekend.
Workshops Where You Take Home Your Masterpieces
Every Sunday, the legendary Szabó workshop opens its doors for felting. Here, you can create your own felt pieces—and yes, you get to take your masterpiece home. Every craft activity, whether it’s felting, weaving, candle-dipping, leatherworking, sewing aromatic sachets, or assembling herbal teas, costs a flat 5 bankó per person—Sóstó Museum Village’s very own local currency. One bankó is equivalent to 100 HUF (about 0.27 USD), and you purchase your tokens at the ticket office.
Tuesday is weaving day, perfect for those eager to try their hand at looms and shuttles. On Wednesdays, it’s candle-dipping—a satisfying process that’s as relaxing as it is creative. Fridays and Saturdays offer a double treat: sewing aromatic sachets and tasting herbal teas every Friday; every Saturday, leatherworking workshops await. No worries if you’ve never touched a needle, candle, or loom—friendly help is always available.
Program-Packed Long October Weekend
