Experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony at the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts (Hopp Ferenc Ázsiai Művészeti Múzeum) in Budapest on November 13 and 15, and December 18, 2025. Held in a meticulously crafted tearoom, the program opens a doorway into Japan’s culture, religion, history, and worldview through the art of tea.
Inside the Tearoom
Designed by the Urasenke School of Tea in collaboration with the Hungarian association and the museum, the space channels classic Japanese aesthetics. Expect sliding doors and windows, tatami flooring, and a tokonoma alcove. Every element narrows your focus to the present moment—and the tea.
Who Leads It
Ceremonies are led by tea artist Kornélia Rajzó-Kontor, president and head instructor of the association. Each session lasts 60 minutes, with four time slots: 10:30–11:30, 12:00–13:00, 13:30–14:30, and 15:00–16:00.
Booking and Details
Capacity is 1–3 people per slot. Only full-room reservations are available: 60 minutes for $165 per slot (max 3 people). The sweet served is gluten-, dairy-, and egg-free, but not sugar-free.
