The town of Mezőberény gears up for a flavorful bash with the 14th Mezőberény Stuffed Cabbage Festival on September 19-20, 2025. The festivities kick off Friday night with the Gulyás Attila és Barátai (Attila Gulyás and Friends) band heating up the stage at 7 PM.
Full-On Saturday: Food, Fun, and Fierce Competition
On Saturday at 7 AM, the iconic cabbage-cooking contest starts sizzling. The festival officially opens at 9 AM, featuring a welcome from Mayor István Siklósi, followed by the “Most Beautiful Kitchen Gardens” awards. From 9:40 AM, there’s non-stop entertainment: belly dancing, a wacky kids’ peasant comedy called “Hörpintő borkomédia” (The Sipper Wine Comedy), a flashy show from the Fitdance Center SE, folk dancing, and serenades by Domokos Imre (Imre Domokos) during lunch.
Biceps and Bands Until Night
At 2:30 PM, strongman hopefuls flex their muscles in partnership with Csárda GYM. The cabbage-cooking winners are crowned at 4 PM. More live music follows, featuring Fehér Krisztián (Krisztián Fehér), the Born Jovi tribute, and headliner Kiscsillag (Little Star).
Family Fun On The Side
All day, visitors can enjoy pony rides, archery, crafts, police demonstrations, museum play corners, and a bouncy castle—all free, with food available at Lakefront Restaurant (Tópart Étterem).
