Between November 14 and 16, culture rides the rails as Metro Festival (Metrófesztivál) returns in a refreshed format. Celebrating Budapest’s birthday and the 75th anniversary of Greater Budapest, the underground spaces will pulse with live music, dance, and choral harmonies performed by art schools, choirs, bands, and dance troupes. Admission is free.
When and Where
The festival runs Friday to Sunday, November 14–16, 2025, across multiple metro stations, including Great Market Square (Nagyvárad tér) and New Buda Center (Újbuda-központ), with additional central hubs joining the lineup. Expect pop-up sets throughout the day, turning everyday commutes into surprise performances.
What to Expect
From student ensembles to seasoned choirs and street-savvy dance crews, the program blends genres and generations. You’ll hear tight vocal work, instrumental showcases, and high-energy choreography echoing through platforms and concourses. The aim: to flood the subway with sound, movement, and a shared sense of Budapest pride.
Free for Everyone
All programs are free to attend—just show up, listen, and let the city’s underground beat carry you along.
