Budapest’s beloved Sunday program for kids is back with a new name and the same buzzing energy. Zsilip Jewish Sunday School (Zsiliputi Zsidó Vasárnapi Iskola) returns to the Zsilip Center on 1 Újpesti Embankment (Újpesti rakpart 1), a two-level space packed with a playhouse and plenty of classrooms, ready to kick off bright and early every Sunday. Sessions run 10:00–12:15, with a youthful, enthusiastic team welcoming kids and teens aged 4–14 for hands-on, age-based activities built around holidays, mitzvot, traditions, and values meant to stick for life. Hundreds who spent their Sunday mornings here still tell stories about the games, laughter, and playful learning. Now they’re opening the doors again—refreshed and ready.

Who It’s For

Whether you’re little or already a teen-in-training, getting ready for leadership or approaching your bar/bat mitzvah, this Sunday school is designed for you. Kids are grouped by age for focused, friendly sessions that balance discovery, creativity, and community.

Group I: Ages 4–6 — “Hullám Group”

Expect a green-themed, joy-first approach: games, laughter, and loads of crafts bring Jewish stories and heroes to life. You’ll explore, listen, create, and gradually become a real little community. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.

Group II: Ages 7–9

From September on, it’s all about creativity, Jewish tales, games, and a fantastic vibe. They can’t wait to meet as many smiling little seashells as possible. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.

Group III: Ages 10–11 — “Yam Group”

A small, lively community where you can make, play, laugh, and discover. Expect Jewish stories, crafts, new friends, and plenty of good cheer. They’re already prepping and can’t wait to spend Sundays together. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.

Group IV: Ages 12–13 — Bar/Bat Mitzvah Club

The BMC launches autumn Sundays with positive energy and humor. For those stepping toward adulthood, this is about learning what it means to become an official member of the community. You’ll talk about Jewish values and traditions, your own questions, and enjoy games, crafts, shared thinking, experiential programs, creative challenges, and project work. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.

Group V: Ages 13–14 — Future Madrich Training

The MKZ group trains tomorrow’s madrichim (leaders) week by week. You’ll explore how to set an example and become strong leaders and educators, learning about children’s needs and development, and how to support them—always with good vibes and Jewish spirit. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.
