Szentendre’s 2026 calendar is packed, mixing concerts, theater, comedy, hands-on workshops, markets, and blockbuster exhibitions across the Danube Bend’s most colorful town. Beyond the must-see Skanzen (Open-Air Ethnographic Museum), heritage buildings, and the Danube Promenade, there are plenty of hiking options in and around the city.
January highlights
January 11 kicks off with “Let’s Make a Sabbath Candle Tray” at 2000 Szentendre, Pátriárka utca 6, plus the New Year’s Concert featuring Orsi Kozma, György Oravecz, and the Hot Jazz Band at the Szentendre Theater (Szentendrei Teátrum) and the Pest County Library. On January 13, the comedy “Not Now, Darling!” (Ne most, drágám!) plays at the Pest County Library, tickets from $27. On January 16–17, browse the New Year’s Antique Fair. January 18 brings Veres 1 Theater’s (Veres 1 Színház) “American Comedy – Swing Musical” from $27, and an Antique and Community Flea Market. Also on the 18th: Family Morning “Touchable Museum” at the Margit Kovács Ceramics Museum, plus “Cooking and Philosophy” at 16:00. January 22 offers a communal baking session. On January 30, Gergely Litkai’s stand-up “Exaggeration” (Túlzás), hosted by Boldizsár Fehér, comes to the Dumaszínház at the library, $18–$23.
February to March
February 1: “We’ll Never Be Who We Were” (Akik már nem leszünk sosem) at the Danube Riverside Cultural Center (Dunaparti Művelődési Ház), Barlang, tickets $14. From February 6 to May 1, the global Harry Potter exhibition arrives in Szentendre. February 14: Vilmos Gryllus’s family favorite “Masquerade Ball” (Maszkabál) at the Theater, $11. The Antique and Community Flea Market returns February 15. February 19 offers another communal baking. February 26: “What Could Go Wrong?” (Mi bajunk lehet?) with Fruzsina Ács and Balázs Máté Szabó at Dumaszínház, $16–$18. March 15: flea market. March 18–22: the 10th MusicMagic (ZeneVarázslat) International Four-Hands and Two-Piano Competition and Masterclass. March 19: communal baking. March 23: psychologist Noémi Orvos-Tóth on breaking inherited family patterns at the library, $22–$27.
Spring to winter
Flea markets continue on April 19, May 17, June 21, August 16, September 20, October 18, November 15, and December 20. June 5: Péter Aranyosi’s “The Digital Ninja” stand-up at the library, $24. June 18: communal baking.
