By the Kánya Stream, find aristocratic comfort in a mansion divided into two grand-bourgeois apartments with airy, sunlit rooms and fully equipped kitchens. Or book one of three cave houses set on a 2.47-acre plot at the foot of the Bükk Mountains, 9.3 miles from Eger. Choose 4-, 6-, or 9-bed apartments with bathrooms, toilets, hot water, underfloor heating, and full kitchens, plus separate terraces and spots for grilling and kettle-cooking in each yard.
Fine wines and good vibes await in the village of beehive rocks and the famed black cherry. The Nagy family founded their winery in 2001; their cellar and most vineyards are in Szomolya on the eastern edge of the Eger Wine Region, with all care, processing, and sales overseen by the family. Another family cellar here boasts top terroir—“the Creator’s palm,” they say of the Carpathian Basin.
Book ahead for cellar tours with tastings any time of year. Expect wine flights, oven-fired wine-and-food menus, a spectacle-style pig fattening and butchery program, wine bites, unlimited food and drink, and dinner shows pouring the Eger region’s best bottles.
