The village spotlights its claim to fame, the black cherry, with the beloved Cseresznyefesztivál (Cherry Festival), and keeps classic fixtures like the Kisasszonynapi Búcsú (Feast of Our Lady) and the Harvest Festival. Autumn Curtain Call
November 23, 2025, brings live theater back to Szomolya. The Mezőkövesdi Református Színkör – MERESZ performs two one-act plays: Ferenc Molnár’s The Violet (Az ibolya) and Endre Nagy’s Tóni. Space is limited and demand is high, so registration is required.

Founded by the Nagy family in 2001, the winery sits on the eastern edge of the Eger wine region with family-run vineyards, processing, and sales. Year-round cellar tours with tastings by appointment: wine flights, oven-baked wine-and-food menus, showcase hog butchering, wine snacks, all-you-can-eat-and-drink options, and dinner shows featuring the Eger region’s best.
