The Tabán (Tabán) Festival has been a spring fixture for decades—LGT’s “Come on, come out to the hillside” (Gyere, gyere ki a hegyoldalba) was born from this very May Day vibe. It’s long been a key rock rendezvous, where legendary Hungarian bands share the hillside stage with fresh acts and tribute groups. This year, on Friday, May 1, Ferenczi György és a Rackajam, MiniGroup – Török Ádám’s Legacy (Török Ádám Öröksége), Deák Bill Gyula, and Karthago take over the slope. Entry is free, so bring your crew and your loudest sing-alongs.
City Picnic, Food Trucks, Workshops
Also on May 1, join our first city picnic under the leafy canopies of City Park (Városliget) for a sunny daytime hang: laid-back blankets, hands-on workshops, a parade of excellent food trucks, and a buzzing design market. It’s all about spontaneous meetups and the kind of urban energy that makes Budapest (Budapest) irresistible.
