Tata keeps its doors wide open all year to anyone craving culture, food, and adventure. The city, famous for its sparkling lakes and lush nature, puts on festivals and events that attract not just locals, but people from across Hungary and beyond. With something happening every season from March to November, Tata is full of reasons to visit—especially if you love exploring nature and discovering new flavors. Trailheads, hiking spots, and scenic vistas are never far away, and there’s never a dull month.

Must-See Events (2025-2026)

From October 24-26, the town square transforms into a fish lover’s paradise at the Old Lake Fishing and Fish Gastro Festival (Öreg-tavi Halász és Halgasztro Fesztivál). Unique “spectacle fishing,” traditional fishing gear demonstrations, fish markets, concerts, cultural programs, and surprisingly creative fish dishes fill the weekend—entry is completely free.

On October 26, join a parade commemorating Tata’s 1956 revolution events and check out the wedding open day at the Palm Event House (Pálma Rendezvényház). November activities pick up with the National Day of Mourning, a stand-up show by András Péter Kovács, a Saint Martin’s Day (Márton Day) goose dinner with new wine tasting, and a Cross Challenge team run. Listen to inspirational talks, enjoy buffet dinners with performances, spot thousands of wild geese at the Tata Wild Goose Festival (Tatai Vadlúd Sokadalom), shop for festive treats at the Snow Crystal Advent Market (Hókristály Advent Market), or participate in the 33rd STOP Santa Run (Mikulásfutás). Spring returns in April 2026 with the Paris-themed “Rendezvous in Paris” (Randevú Párizsban) performance at the Zoltán Magyary Cultural Center (Magyary Zoltán Cultural Center).
