Bikal’s Experience Estate (Élménybirtok) throws open its medieval city gates in 2026 with a packed calendar of interactive adventures, knightly spectacles, and music-driven shows that turn history into hands-on fun. Behind the fort walls, families can roam craft workshops, meet legendary figures, watch historical reenactments, and join games that sprawl across the site. Kids and adults aren’t just spectators here—they’re part of the story.
March 2, 9, 16 — Step into a spellbinding show where light and shadow collide, and sound design fuses with smart lighting to sketch out a world beyond time. The Lightmaker – musical light magic is billed as a first of its kind in Hungary: technicians choreograph intelligent lamps and immersive audio to tell an eternal tale of good versus evil. One light fades, another flares—an endless cycle that becomes the heartbeat of the performance. The result is a sensory trip where imagination has no walls and the clock simply stops.
March 4, 7 — Dark Middle Ages? Maybe not. This lively science-meets-fantasy talk, From Stone Axe to Helicopter, follows the free thinkers whose ideas leapt centuries ahead and planted seeds for the future. Forgotten inventors sketched the elevator, the automobile, and the diving suit long before factories could churn out a simple wheel. Dive with them to the ocean floor, climb with them into the sky, and puzzle through the labyrinth of history where prototypes and wild notions sparked game-changing breakthroughs. It’s for kids, adults, and anyone ready to be delighted—and to discover how light was born in the so-called Dark Ages. Tickets available online for the March 7 session.
March 7, 10:30–17:00 — A full-day sampler of the estate’s best hands-on thrills. Three free games await, including two scavenger hunts with surprises at the end. Dress up in the Tailor’s Workshop as a prince, princess, court jester, or even an executioner. Browse unique gifts and hand-bound books in the House of Crafts. Step into the Page School to find award-winning leather jewelry and real leather goods, try your hand at making your own piece with a master goldsmith, learn glass painting basics, and sit for a caricature portrait.
No need to fear bad weather—programs run rain or shine. In the Page School’s South Hall, Ilona and Anikó host a crafts studio using premium materials, where you can create home décor, ornate boxes, or decorate textiles like T-shirts, totes, and pouches. The Smart Space offers two interactive games. The Woodcarver’s Workshop showcases clever puzzles, turned wooden bowls, carved spoons, and the whimsical Soul Birds (Lélekmadarak). At the Gagyizda shop, browse dozens of souvenirs, artisanal chocolates, and fragrant bath salts and oils. Pro tip: arrive at opening to fit it all in.

March 11 — Witchcraft and folk magic step out of the shadows in a sharp, witty session with Zina, who connects medieval beliefs to their modern echoes. Think gossip is harmless? In the Middle Ages, loose tongues meant penalties. Learn who counted as a witch, how persecutions took root, which charms still feel strangely useful, and whether incantations do anything at all. The talk ends with a lifelong good-luck charm from the performer, and plenty of humor along the way. A joint production of Ágens Company (Ágens Társulat) and Bikal Experience Theater (Bikali Élményszínház).
March 14, 10:30–17:00 — The Experience Estate (Élménybirtok) marks Hungary’s national holiday with maker sessions, interactive games, animal encounters, and kid-friendly history quests. Zina drops in with History Faking – Revolution, a little differently, reframing 1848 with a light touch. In Ilona and Anikó’s studio, paint festive porcelain and craft keepsake décor and textile ornaments to take home. The day’s centerpiece is Freedom, let us gaze into your eyes! – In memoriam 1848, a special performance with live singing and horses, featuring István “Luke” Orlik, Tina Zsolnai-Faragó, and Lídia Boudny. Arrive from 10:30 to catch it all.
March 14 — The beloved tale The Star-Eyed Shepherd (Csillagszemű juhász) returns as an experience-based, playful show that flips the perspective to the kids. Jump into characters, riff with humor and movement, and help drive the story from inside the fairytale itself. It’s participatory, high-energy, and built for young imaginations.
