when: 2026.02.14., Saturday

Bikal’s Élménybirtok is turning 2026 into a hands-on time machine. Inside its walled Old Town, medieval life springs back with interactive houses, live legends, historical reenactments, and showstopping performances. Families stroll cobblestones, meet masters at work, and jump into quests together. Kids and grown-ups don’t just watch the Middle Ages—they live them.

Valentine’s Day: Romance, Laughter, and Knights

On February 14, the estate leans fully into romance. Spend the day together among the Old Town’s crooked lanes, then craft keepsakes side by side before settling in at the White Swan (Fehér Hattyú) Inn for hearty plates. Laughter is guaranteed thanks to Zina the courtesan’s spicy stand-up, and the day crescendos with the Knights and Ladies show, a full-throttle horseback spectacle that gets hearts racing. Doors open at 10:30 and close at 17:00.

All-Day Interactive Houses and Animal Yard

From 10:30 to 17:00, three interactive houses in the Village open their doors: the Enchanted Painter’s House, the Blacksmith’s Forge, and the Witch’s House. The Animal Yard hosts story time throughout the day with two classics: the Hungarian folk tale The Little Rooster’s Diamond Halfpenny (A kiskakas gyémánt félkrajcárja) and La Fontaine’s The Fox and the Crow (A róka és a holló). Meanwhile, every artisan workshop across the estate welcomes visitors to watch, learn, and shop. In the Fairy-Tale Village, the blacksmith master invites little hands to try a touch of forging. At the Green Walnut Tavern (Zöld Diófa Csárda) – Crafts House and the Water Mill – Crafts House, multiple craft styles are on offer.

Meet the Makers in the Old Town

Follow the alleys to find a caricaturist, leatherworker, silversmith, enamel and glass-image artist, bookbinder, a honey seller, and a Renaissance tailor in the seamstress’s shop. Around a sly bend, the woodcarver chips magic from timber. It’s the sort of place where you watch a craft, then wear it, taste it, or take it home.

Quests Across 18.5 Acres

From 10:30 to 14:00, the estate-wide Labyrinth game sends you hunting for cards featuring iconic medieval symbols across 7.5 hectares (18.5 acres). In the same time window, Secret Signs, Cryptic Places challenges you to crack a hidden code using a treasure map—sign up at the Gingerbread Maker’s workshop.

Workshops, Comedy, and a Horseback Show

DIY with Ilona and Anikó runs in two blocks—10:30 to 13:00 and 13:30 to 16:00—in the Page School South Hall: paint boxes and textiles, or join the Seasons of Magic premium home-decor workshop to make door wreaths, table pieces, or Valentine’s gifts. At 13:30, Zina’s Courtesan Training turns the Page School Theater into a love-life boot camp, a cheeky medieval relationship stand-up recommended for ages 15 and up, priced at $5. About $7.10 covers the 15:00 Knights and Ladies performance—real combat moves and a dramatic mounted show—for ages 6 and up; kids 0–5 go free. The White Swan (Fehér Hattyú) Inn’s “fine bites hours” run from 12:00 to 15:00.

Valentine’s Night: Banquet and Midnight Spa

From 17:30 on February 14, romance gets the after-dark treatment. Head to the Great Hall of Knights for an atmospheric buffet dinner with soft live music, then stretch the evening out with night bathing until midnight and a glass of sparkling wine. The experience unfolds in the Puchner Castle Hotel bathhouse, pairing culinary indulgence with a wellness wind-down—an all-evening Valentine’s date with candles, steam, and clinked glasses.

Light, Shadow, and a World Beyond Time

On February 16, The Lightmaker – Musical Light Magic lands with a one-of-a-kind show where light technicians wield intelligent lamps and special sound design to paint a universe of light and shadow. Good and evil dance, one light fades and another flares—an endless cycle that pulls you out of time and into pure imagination. It’s a first-of-its-kind in Hungary, fusing stagecraft with sorcery.

Create Your Own Seasonal Style

February 17, 18, 19, and 20 each bring the Seasons of Magic: Creative Home-Decor Workshop. In small groups and a judgment-free vibe, you’ll craft premium door wreaths or table centerpieces with expert guidance—perfect for beginners, confident for pros, always inspiring. The promise is simple: step out of routine, dive into making, leave with something beautiful.

DIY That’s Truly Yours

Also on February 17, 18, 19, and 20, Ilona and Anikó open their DIY—Do It Yourself—craft studio. Choose your canvas—wooden treasure chest, porcelain plate, or textile bag—and experiment with multiple techniques using quality materials. They guide each step so beginners relax and advanced makers flourish. School-age kids are welcome, and everyone leaves with a custom piece that actually feels like you.

Play Your Part in a Classic

On February 18, Adventure with the Shepherd with Starry Eyes flips a beloved folk tale into an immersive, play-based theater experience. Children don’t just watch—they step into roles, move, laugh, and reshape the story from their own point of view. It’s new, it’s learning through experience, and it’s powered by collective imagination.

February Keeps Unfolding

Programs continue on February 21 with more medieval charm, artisan workshops, and interactive houses. Whether you come for a day date with knights, a midnight soak after a feast, a child’s first forged nail, or the glow of a light-spun universe, Bikal’s Élménybirtok has a February that breathes, clangs, sings, and shines. Pack curiosity. The past is waiting.

Pros
+
Super family-friendly: kids can try forging, meet animals, join quests, and there’s plenty for adults too, from crafts to the horseback show
+
The medieval theme is universally familiar thanks to movies/games, so you don’t need deep background to enjoy it
+
Bikal’s Élménybirtok is a hidden gem in Hungary—less touristy vibes, more authentic hands-on fun
+
Little to no Hungarian needed: activities are visual/interactive, prices listed, and staff at major attractions usually manage basic English
+
Easy day plan: doors 10:30–17:00 for hands-on stuff, then buffet dinner and a cozy midnight spa option for Valentine’s
+
Reaches different interests: crafts, comedy, live knights, light-show spectacle, and DIY workshops across multiple days
+
Great value: kid-friendly pricing, free for 0–5, affordable tickets for shows, and you take home what you make
Cons
Getting there isn’t super straightforward: Bikal is rural; expect a rental car or multi-leg train/bus from Budapest, plus limited evening transit
The destination isn’t widely known to foreign visitors, so planning and expectations rely on local info and fewer English-language reviews
Some comedy content is 15+ and a bit risqué, which may limit full family participation at certain times
Compared with big medieval parks or castles in Western Europe, it’s smaller-scale and more craft-focused, with fewer grand monuments but more workshops
