October 28: French Club & Storytime for Kids
Tuesday, October 28 is a bilingual treat. At 4:30 PM, the French Club “Venez Parler!” gets together in the historic wing of the main library, led by Melanie Wrede and Ildikó Kenyeres. Anyone eager to practice French conversation is welcome. Meanwhile, at the Dózsaváros Branch (Dózsavárosi Fiókkönyvtár), kids gather for Tale Tuesday (Mesekedd) and enjoy the story of CSODATÖK (“The Magic Pumpkin”), followed by Halloween decoration crafting.
October 29: Puppy Therapy for Toddlers
Nothing makes you smile like meeting a therapy dog. On Wednesday, October 29, from 4:30 to 5:00 PM, the library’s Children’s Section hosts therapy dog Travel and handler Anikó Jánoska from the Doktor Mancsok Foundation. Babies and toddlers (ages 0–3) with a valid library card can cuddle up and learn how to gently interact with animals. Rain in the forecast? Bring extra shoes!
October 30: Conversation Club
On Thursday, October 30, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, level up your English at the Conversation Club in the American Corner. Open to high schoolers and above, this free meet-up is perfect for preparing for exams, work, or simply keeping your English sharp. This session’s topic: Gothic culture. November 5: Cards, Books, and Movies
Wednesday, November 5 is full of activities. From 4:00 to 6:00 PM, all ages are invited to the Zug Youth Area for Card Club (Kártyaklub). At 5:00 PM in the Kisfaludy Room, there’s a special event for postcard enthusiasts: a book launch with Dr. Zoltán Poór and others, plus a musical interlude by the Hungarikum Ensemble. Before that, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, there’s a session focused on collection pedagogy, led by Dr. Poór. Looking for a classic film instead? Enjoy a surprise American movie at Movie Afternoon at 5:00 PM—free snacks and drinks are provided, but please RSVP by email and feel free to bring something to share.
November 17: Youth Voices Matter Workshop
On Monday, November 17, from 2:00 to 5:30 PM, the library partners with the Egyesek Youth Association for Számít a hangod! (“Your Voice Matters!”)—a nationwide workshop where young people help shape the future. Are current opportunities for youth lacking? Bring your voice and curiosity, brainstorm with your peers, and share your real thoughts about education, community, and possibilities. Registration is required as spots are limited, but expertise is not—you just need an open mind.
