From June to August, Veresegyház turns into Pest County’s biggest open-air arts hotspot with Mézesvölgyi Nyár 2026, a sprawling multi-genre theater and music festival set on the Búcsú tér stage. It’s a summer-long lineup of hit shows and crowd-favorite actors, family picks and cult classics, designed for all ages—and it doesn’t skimp on laughs, nostalgia, or big musical moments. The organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs, so keep an eye on updates and book early if you’re traveling in. Here’s what’s on tap from mid-July through August.

Family Classics and Big-Hearted Stories

July 12 kicks off with A dzsungel könyve (The Jungle Book), the timeless tale of Mowgli, the boy raised by the forest who finds love, friendship, and courage under the canopy. Expect a heart-squeezing, heart-warming ride for kids and the kid-at-heart.
On August 22, A muzsika hangja (The Sound of Music) brings the Von Trapp saga to the 1930s Austrian Alps. A novice-turned-governess brings music and mischief into a stern captain’s home, only for world history to crash the party. With singable tunes, a hefty emotional core, and a historical backdrop, it’s a crowd-pleaser for grandparents and little ones alike.
Rounding out the family slate on August 28, A Padlás (The Attic) promises “half-fairytale, half-musical” magic for ages 9 to 99. Set in a mysterious attic where spirits and humans meet, it’s a tender lesson in friendship, faith, and dreams—played over two acts.

Laughs, Farce and Feel-Good Mayhem

Jeanie Linders’ Menopauza (Menopause The Musical) lands July 15 with the global hit’s trademark honesty and nonstop humor about a life chapter everyone knows but nobody whispers about for long once the music starts.
On July 26, Steven Moffat’s Rém rendes vendég (The Unfriend) delivers a razor-sharp two-act comedy. A polite English couple befriends a charming American widow on a cruise, swaps addresses, and—surprise—she shows up. After a little online sleuthing raises their blood pressure, chaos unspools with meddling neighbors, a police sergeant, and impeccable timing. Fresh off a London West End success, the Budapest Játékszín production brings it to Veresegyház.
Ne most, drágám! (Not Now, Darling!) explodes July 28 in London’s glossiest fur salon with flying garments, mink coats, love triangles, scantily clad surprises, and total bedlam—pure farce engineered for unfiltered fun.
Amerikai komédia (American Comedy) swings in July 31, adapted from Károly Aszlányi’s 1930s play. With a libretto by Attila Lőrinczy and award-winning music by Bálint Bársony, director Károly Peller serves a big-band, high-energy, humor-forward musical set to a swanky swing beat.
August 7 brings Anconai szerelmesek (Lovers of Ancona), a beloved musical comedy blending Italian commedia dell’arte lore, classic Hungarian humor, and Italian hits from the 1970s. It’s been one of Hungary’s most-performed comedies for two decades—and for good reason.
On August 11, Anconai szerelmesek a Balatonon (Lovers of Ancona at Lake Balaton) reunites the original’s characters twenty years on, this time at the Hungarian lakeside in the warmth of 1989. Expect returning romances, ribbing nostalgia, and singalongs to Azzurro, Bella Ciao, and Sono l’italiano, with a little help from comrade Békés and a classic SZOT resort setting.

Premieres, Crime and Cult Favorites

Csengetett, Mylord? (You Rang, M’Lord?) makes a splashy stage world premiere on July 21 and 22. TV’s well-loved characters step into the spotlight in Veresegyház for a summer night of upstairs-downstairs wit.
August 5 sets the stakes with Az Ackroyd gyilkosság (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd). Hercule Poirot retires to the sleepy English village of King’s Abbott—just in time for two inexplicable deaths. The cast features Kálid Artúr as Poirot and Szabó P. Szilveszter as Dr. James Sheppard in a taut Agatha Christie thriller.
August 18 turns the world upside down with Túl a Maszat-hegyen (Beyond Smudge Hill), a musical where mess equals order and cleaning equals chaos. Muhi Andris embarks on a rescue mission through a world of stains, dusters, and tidy tyrants—proof that even vacuum cleaners can switch sides.

Concerts and Star Turns

July 19 belongs to Péter Geszti, the frontman of positive energy. Expect Rapülők’s stadium-shaking dance hits, Jazz+Az funk, plus Gringó Sztár and Létvágy pop delicacies—performed live with major stagecraft, dry humor, and sharp lyrics.
On August 1, Csak egy tánc volt (It Was Just One Dance) honors the glittering legacy of Pál Szécsi. Under the stars, Zoltán Miller, Dénes Pál, Attila Serbán, and Sándor Nagy bring his evergreen songs back to life.
Quimby storms the open-air stage August 8. The band’s signature sound and iconic tracks make this one of the festival’s headline nights—ideal for anyone chasing that electric, late-summer atmosphere.
August 15 spotlights Egy életem (One Life), a biographical stand-up evening with Imre Csuja. He looks back on childhood, early career grind, performing four shows a day, lessons from elder greats, and meeting his wife over 40 years ago. Expect behind-the-scenes gems from Üvegtigris (Glass Tiger) and Valami Amerika (A Kind of America).
August 26 cues up Szép nyári nap – Neoton musical (A Beautiful Summer Day). Set in the 1970s at a youth construction camp near the Yugoslav border, it blends irony, young love, and the Neoton Família songs that still power every decent house party—now enjoyed with the freedom of hindsight decades after the regime change.
The curtain falls August 29 with Nem rongyos élet – újravarrva (Not a Ragged Life – Restitched), an operetta gala promising bigger, bolder encores after last year’s sold-out smash. Theater heavyweights and operetta stars reunite to prove that Hungarian operetta—officially a hungarikum—belongs to everyone.

Where to Stay and Refuel

Veresegyház has you covered between shows. The Libra Hotel sits in the town center near the lakes, with a cozy wellness area, a main-square-view restaurant, comfy rooms, and a conference space—about 20 minutes from downtown Budapest via the M3. Local eateries span rustic lakeside joints by Ivacsi Lake with checkered tablecloths and fresh fish, the homestyle Marika Konyhája with two decades of daily menus and à la carte, and the Holdfény Étterem for weddings and big gatherings. Sweet tooths should hunt down the award-laden Sulyán family confectioners—creators of the 2010 “cake of the country,” the Szilvagombóc cake.
