Veszprém keeps the cultural flame burning all year with exhibitions, concerts, theater, film screenings, festivals, food events, and family programs lighting up the City of Queens. On April 29, everything kicks off across multiple venues, and the calendar barely catches a breath afterward.
Therapy Dogs, Secrets of the Crown
Start April 29 with Kutyaterápia a legeslegkisebbeknek at the Eötvös Károly Library from 16:30 to 17:00. Meet Travel, the therapy dog, and learn gentle animal care up close. The sessions are led by Anikó Jánoska from the Doktor Mancsok Foundation and are open to ages 0–3 with a valid library card. Bring indoor shoes if it rains. Later, at 17:00 in the library’s Kisfaludy Hall (Komakút tér 3), researcher-teacher-musician Dr. Zoltán Burucs presents his book Szent István és a Szent Korona titkai nyomában (In the Footsteps of Saint Stephen and the Secrets of the Holy Crown), offering a fresh perspective on the Holy Crown and its link to the Balaton Zodiac, an ancient secret astronomical center. Expect a welcome, communal singing of Ó Szent István, dícsértessél…, a slideshow talk, Q&A, and book signing.
Sharpen Your English, Toast the Season
On April 30, the American Corner’s Conversation Club meets from 16:30 to 17:30 at the Eötvös Károly Library. Free and open to high schoolers and up, this week’s topic is investments. May opens with Gyárkert Majális on May 1 and the beloved Gizella Days (Gizella Napok) festival from May 4–10, filling the city with pageantry and tradition.

It’s free, but you must register in advance.
