One dreamy piano night in the courtyard

MiniPianoFest sets up July 18, 7 p.m., in the Eötvös Library courtyard: slow modern classical, gentle harmonies, soft electronics, and poetry interludes. It’s beanbags, a drink, sketching or reading while the city noise fades and time loosens. Free, outdoors or indoors if it rains. Pianists: CHARMEY (Marc Charmet), Flora Kapeller, and Andor Sanderson. Charmey, a Paris-trained pianist-composer who found his modern classical/ambient voice in Budapest, channels Satie, Tiersen, and Nils Frahm. His albums Monotonies (2024) and Délicates (2025, Siril Records) anchor a minimalist, spacious style; he founded Budapest’s Le Salon de Musique series. Poetry reading by Anna Bognár, a multi-award-winning scholar-poet of Italian literature. Vienna-based Kapeller composes across media, influenced by Hania Rani, Tigran Hamasyan, Hildur Guðnadóttir, and Ludwig Göransson. Sanderson’s piano-ambient set merges sound and spoken word into an intimate, inward journey, with readings by Mercédesz Kónya.
