The historic Veszprém Castle District is getting a fresh vibe in 2025 with a spectacular lineup of events, programs, and community gatherings that stretch from October through early November. Both locals and visitors are in for memorable experiences—whether you’re looking to dive into local history, join uplifting community celebrations, or find entertainment for all ages.
Magdi Celebration: Faith, Mystery, and Music
The annual Magdi Festival returns on October 26 with a blend of spiritual reflection and interactive adventure. Kicking off at 10 AM, “Discover Magdi’s Life” invites everyone to join a puzzle-solving, treasure-hunt-style walk—the Magdi Tour—tracing the life of Blessed Mária Magdolna Bódi. Starting from the Bíró-Giczey House, groups or solo explorers follow a mapped route through city squares, churches, and sites tied to Magdi’s inspiring story. Along the way, clever riddles, moving quotes, and small tasks await at every checkpoint, promising both fun and a deeper connection to her legacy. The Magdi Tour welcomes all ages and backgrounds—families, youth groups, parish communities, and school classes.
At 6 PM, the Magdi Festival shifts to the grandeur of St. Michael’s Cathedral (Szent Mihály Főszékesegyház), where Archbishop György Udvardy leads a moving Mass. This highlight of the celebration is about gratitude and strengthening the brave, pure faith that illuminated Magdi’s life. The Mass aims to inspire everyone, especially young people and families, to follow her example of hope and joy.
Music brings the day to a fitting close at 7 PM, when the Orlando Vocal Ensemble performs “Musica Paenitentiae & Gratiae” (Music of Repentance and Grace). Expect heavenly voices, sacred music, and an atmosphere perfect for collective meditation and thankfulness.
Guided Castle Walks & Family Fun
From October 23-26, expert guides are ready to share Veszprém’s castle secrets with history buffs, architecture fans, and the simply curious. Each stroll is packed with stories and picturesque views.
More Events: Kids’ Camps, Halloween, Culture, and More
After the Magdi Festival, the event calendar keeps rolling: weekly local tours, children’s programs (like Kids’ Corner and Fairytale Tuesdays), Halloween parties, French and English conversation clubs, pet therapy sessions, a diverse card club, postcard exhibitions, surprise movie afternoons, and youth workshops. Major acts are coming as well, such as Boban Marković Orkestar in November ($33–$39) and the Lord of the Dance 30th Anniversary Tour in March 2026 ($28–$62). July even brings the unmissable VeszprémFest!
Old stones and new spirits come together in Veszprém for a packed season full of inspiration, discovery, and fun.
