Veszprém Castle Quarter is closed for Christmas from December 22–26, 2025. Doors reopen December 27–30, 10:00–18:00, and on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31, 10:00–15:00. Outside the holidays, regular hours apply: Monday closed; Tuesday–Friday 17:00–19:00; Saturday–Sunday 10:00–18:00.
Guided Castle Walks
November 29 features guided Castle Walks at 11:30, 14:00, and 16:00. Themed tours run on weekends: The Walk of Light and Devotion visits the Archbishop’s Palace and Gizella Chapel at 11:30 and 16:00; A Thousand Years’ Path explores the Cathedral, crypt, and St. George’s Chapel at 14:00. On November 30, Castle Walks depart at 14:00 and 16:00, with the same themed lineup at 11:30, 14:00, and 16:00 on weekend slots.
Biró–Giczey House, the Baroque Jewel Box
On December 6, Castle Walks depart at 11:30, 14:00, and 16:00. The Biró–Giczey House, the Baroque jewel of the Castle Quarter with its garden, gift shop, and exhibitions, is the starting point for themed tours: Walk of Light and Devotion at 11:30 and 16:00, and A Thousand Years’ Path at 14:00, both on Saturdays and Sundays, departing from the Biró–Giczey House. December 7 features Castle Walks at 11:30 and 14:00, plus the Walk of Light and Devotion at 11:30 and 14:00 from the same starting point. Tickets and info: Gift Shop. Group size capped at 25. Exhibitions remain free to visit.
Second and Third Advent Weekends
December 13–14 and December 20–21 repeat the full slate: Castle Walks at 11:30, 14:00, and 16:00; Walk of Light and Devotion at 11:30 and 16:00; A Thousand Years’ Path at 14:00. All themed walks start from the Biró–Giczey House.
Between the Holidays
December 27 spotlights Festive Harmonies, a concert by Ádám Tabajdi, István Horváth, and the Harmónia Chamber Ensemble in St. Michael’s Cathedral. On December 27–28, Castle Walks run at 11:30, 14:00, and 16:00, with the two themed tours continuing at the usual weekend times from the Biró–Giczey House.
