Magdi Celebration: Walks, Mystery, and Community
From October 23 to 26, Veszprém offers guided castle walks, inviting both locals and visitors to discover hidden gems throughout the city.
The Magdi Celebration peaks on Sunday, October 26, with the Magdi Tour, an interactive treasure hunt exploring the life and faith of Blessed Mária Magdolna Bódi. Running from 10 AM to 3 PM, this playful city walk begins at the Bíró-Giczey House and leads participants—either alone or in small groups—through significant local sites, churches, and spaces connected to Magdi’s life. Along the way, participants will face challenges, solve puzzles, and encounter inspiring quotes, truly immersing everyone in her spirit of purity, cheerfulness, and unwavering faith. The tour is open to all age groups: families, youth, parish communities, and even school classes can share in the experience.
At 6 PM that same evening, the Magdi Celebration culminates with a special mass in St. Michael’s Cathedral (Szent Mihály-székesegyház), led by Archbishop György Udvardy. This service is not only a commemoration but also a heartfelt thanksgiving for Magdi’s life, inviting prayers for young people and families to cultivate her courageous, pure faith.
Musical Goodbyes and More
At 7 PM, the city’s Magdi Celebration concludes with a moving concert: Musica Paenitentiae & Gratiae (Music of Repentance and Grace). The Orlando Vocal Ensemble will perform sacred works reflecting themes of penance and grace, mirroring the purity and dedication seen in Magdi’s life. The concert is both a musical and spiritual journey—the final notes and moments of prayer round out a day dedicated to gratitude and reflection.
