Veszprém packs the calendar with culture, performance, food, and festivals all year across multiple venues in the “City of Queens.” The 2026 lineup mixes exhibitions, big-name concerts, guided walks, kids’ tech days, triathlon fever, street music, and international dance—plus plenty of reasons to linger in cafés and hotels stitched into the city’s historic heart and the leafy Séd stream valley.

Week Highlights: May 4–10

The season kicks off with Gizella Napok (Gizella Days), running May 4–10 citywide. Expect concerts, prayers, and special Veszprém Castle tours clustered around the patron celebrations. On May 7, the Cathedral hosts the Gizella Day festive concert, followed on May 8 by the tradition-beginning Gizella Day prayer. The guided Vár (Castle) Walks punctuate the weekend: May 9 at 17:00, and May 10 at 10:30 and 14:00.

Walks, Tours, and Family Fun

Veszprém Séta, a classic city walk, brings to life the past along the Séd stream at the foot of the Castle and dives into Veszprém Castle’s heritage. It’s for anyone craving the city’s best sights and stories.
On May 19, 16:00–18:00, the library’s Children’s Library and American Corner host Grandparent & Grandchild – Hand in Hand in the Digital World. Think tales, movement, megabyte magic, and a generational meet-up on-site and online: an orientation game in the library, programming robot bees, a dance-off, and 3D crafting. Free with registration, ages 6–99—bring the grands and the grandkids.

Bigger Stages and Festivals

The 4th Veszprém Triathlon Festival lands May 24. Then the TÁNC International Contemporary Festival energizes the city May 26–30.
VeszprémFest takes over July 15–18 with headliners: JUANES (July 15), BETH HART (July 16), KRAFTWERK (July 17), and PINK MARTINI (July 18). Ticket ranges show 18,900–26,900 HUF (about 52–74 USD), with some listings at 2,000–26,900 HUF (about 5.5–74 USD) and a fixed 18,900 HUF (about 52 USD) date for Kraftwerk.
Between July 10–19, the Rosé, Riesling and Jazz Festival (Rozé, Rizling és Jazz) pairs wine and jazz under summer skies, and July 23–25 brings the Veszprém Street Music Festival to the old town. August hums with the Auer Festival (Aug 3–9) and the 30th Cell-Cup International Handball Festival (Aug 13–19).
Dog lovers, save September 5 for the 10th Tacsi Tali Veszprém at the Monasteries and Gardens event area—an all-day, love-soaked dachshund meet-up for pups, humans, and anyone who smiles at short legs and big hearts.

Ongoing Exhibitions

Several heavyweight shows run through spring and summer near Erzsébet Promenade 1 (Erzsébet sétány 1.): The Alchemy of Glass – Zoltán Bohus and Mária Lugossy (Nov 20, 2025–May 31, 2026), and Labyrinth – Lili Ország and Her Fellow Artists (Dec 4, 2025–May 31, 2026). Across the city, the Veszprém Spring Exhibition runs Mar 5–May 25, and from Apr 12–Aug 2, Pure Form curates the Vass Collection’s French artworks at the Modern Gallery – László Vass Collection (Modern Képtár – Vass László-gyűjtemény).

June to July: Camps and Culture

June stacks up with additional guided tours and multi-day happenings (June 17–19; June 18–20; June 18–21) leading into a summer-long thread (June 19–Sept 4).
From June 29–July 3, the American Corner at the Eötvös Károly Library runs Red, White & Cool summer minicamp: five days, five USA themes—history, geography, culture, sports, innovation. It’s free, led by an American, and designed for teens 12–16: no textbooks, no snoozy lessons—just daily English, teamwork, projects, presentations, creativity, and confidence.

Eat, Drink, Stay

Veszprém’s lodging spans quiet garden neighborhoods to postcard vistas by the Séd stream. Options include an elegant first-class guesthouse with 17 fully equipped rooms (one accessible), free parking, and a bar; hotels beside the zoo entrance under the Viaduct with 38 rooms and 85 beds ideal for families, conferences, and year-round getaways; and the Ezüsthíd Hotel on the city’s west side, 800 meters from downtown, with a business-ready events room and apartments plus twin and triple rooms. Hotel Veszprém sits in the center, spanning a main road on one side and a pedestrian street on the other. Close to the Castle, the hotel named after Hungary’s first queen offers direct steps into the old streets and peaceful streamside strolls, while boutique addresses like the Hotel Historia Malomkert promise singular views of Veszprém Castle. In the old town, a small heritage hotel adds a 60-seat events room and an 80-seat cellar restaurant to its 29 beds, plus a wellness zone with a neck-shower plunge pool, Finnish sauna, steam cabin, and ice fountain.
Dining runs from a cozy top-10 Balaton-area restaurant just minutes from the Castle with a Mediterranean vibe to a long-loved old town spot with a seasonal menu and summer terrace. Nightlife has teeth at BLISSS THE CLUB—fancy drinks, slick service, and star performers—plus the Daiquiri Coffeehouse & Cocktail Bar for a calm corner or a screen-side seat. For mornings and munchables, there’s artisan, all-sourdough baking and specialty coffee across the center, and a downtown kitchen that reimagines street food, fresh plates, and pizzas in a snug setting.
