Adam Play and Palm Sunday Live Passion in Veszprém
March 28–29. Experience the core mystery of the Christian faith by entering into the story of Jesus Christ’s Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection. On Palm Sunday, March 29, from 3:00 p.m., the Live Passion mystery play moves through Veszprém’s iconic settings: along the Séd Stream valley, through the Margaret Ruins, and up to Benedict Hill. New this year: on Saturday, March 28, 7:00 p.m., the Adam Play (Ádám-játék) premieres within the walls of the Margaret Ruins. This Old French mystery play—one of Europe’s earliest known dramas, contemporary with Hungary’s Funeral Sermon—depicts the Fall: the tempter overcomes the first human pair, and alongside punishment, they receive the promise of the Savior’s coming, a promise that still shapes human existence. Everyone is warmly invited on March 29 at 3:00 p.m. for the Palm Sunday Live Passion and on March 28 at 7:00 p.m. for the Adam Play. Venue: Veszprém.
