Veszprém’s Archbishopric is rolling out a packed 2026 schedule bursting with exhibitions, concerts, family and kids’ programs, guided tours, thematic hikes, educational lectures, holiday celebrations, and church events across multiple venues in 8200 Veszprém. From castle strolls to Easter masses and biblical role-play, there’s something spiritual and fun for everyone starting in early April.
Guided Castle Walks Kick Off
These tours launch from Biró-Giczey House at Vár utca 31, spotlighting Veszprém’s Castle District gems: St. Michael’s Cathedral, Gisella Chapel (Gizella-kápolna), St. George’s Chapel, and the Archbishop’s Palace. On Friday, April 3 (10am-6pm), join walks at 10:30am focusing on the Palace and Gisella Chapel, or 4pm visiting the Cathedral, crypt, and St. George’s. Saturday, April 4, adds a 2pm slot with another Palace-Gisella tour. Sunday, April 5, keeps the 10:30am, 2pm, and 4pm lineup just like Saturday.
Easter Sunday Mass & More
April 5 brings Easter Sunday Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral from 10:30am-12pm, featuring the St. Michael’s Choir and Mendelssohn’s musical service. Later, on April 10, a Palace Concert lights up the Archbishop’s Palace. April 11 honors Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna with a Litér commemoration.
Kids’ Biblical Role-Play Series
Kids aged 7-10 are invited back for the Biblical Role-Play series, which boosts social skills and emotional intelligence. Sessions happen on Sundays at Gisella Hall in the Archbishop’s Office, Jutasi út 18/2: February 15, March 1, 15, 29, April 12, and 26.
Concerts, Tours & Special Walks
April 14 marks World Librarians’ Day with a guided tour of the Koller Library. At 7:30pm on April 15, organist Martin Baker joins Kéméndi Tamás for a concert in the basilica as part of the Organ Subscription Philharmonia. On Friday, April 17 at 3:20pm, “With Mindszenty – Homecoming” offers a free guided walk from the Courthouse to the Castle Prison Visitor Center, tracing Joseph Mindszenty’s (József Mindszenty) return from Arrow Cross captivity, led by Dr. Csernai Balázs—register early for the first 20 spots. April 18 celebrates World Monument Protection Day with a personal specialist tour by Nagy Veronika and G.-Kovács Gábor. On April 19, the St. Michael’s Children’s Choir serves at the 10:30am Cathedral Mass, followed by a short jubilee concert for their third anniversary.
