Veszprém’s Eötvös Károly Library is throwing its doors wide for a packed season of literary meetups, author talks, book launches, exhibitions, and festive community events. Everyone’s invited to Komakút Square (Komakút tér) 3, and the calendar is stacked from late November into the new year.

Spotlight: Sándor Vass returns

The headline event lands on November 29 at 15:30 in the Kisfaludy Hall: a launch and signing for A Hundred Lives of a Genius (Egy zseni száz élete). Legendary coach Sándor Vass is back in Veszprém, joined by the book’s author, Gábor Lantos, with star TV sports reporter Pál Szompathy leading the conversation.
Vass left his mark as both the Austrian and Hungarian national team coach, but in Hungary he took a club bench only in Veszprém—just for a year, yet it became unforgettable. Expect stories, including: Why did Vass lug a suitcase full of glasses into training? What drama exploded in Stavanger, Norway? How did club director Csaba Hajnal and Vass—two brilliant, headstrong men—actually work together? What battles flared between then-stars like István Csoknyai and József Éles and a coach who never bit his tongue? And how did referees, once pampered, get their revenge on Veszprém? The book is already in stores.
