when: 2026.01.17., Saturday
where: 8060 Mór, Belváros

2026, January 17: Spend Vince Day roaming the Mór wine region with a spirited, tradition-packed itinerary. Kick off at noon at PAULUS Winery (PAULUS Borház) with a three-wine tasting and a hearty hot lunch: pork stew with spaetzle and pickles. It’s friendly, rustic, and the pours come with stories.

Kecske Hill Rituals

After lunch, head up Goat Hill (Kecske-hegy) for the classic Vince Day vine-cutting and blessing. Locals swear by the ritual’s power to forecast the harvest. Warm tea, mulled wine, cakes, and lard bread keep the chill away, while a scenic hike threads through the rolling Mór landscape.

Cellar Finale at Lamberg

The day wraps up in the Lamberg Cellar (Lamberg-pince), where Brigád Winery (Brigád Pincészet) serves a five-wine flight. Expect a generous Vince Day cold platter loaded with winter smoked specialties—pure comfort to match the glasses. The program ends after the tasting.

Price: $55 per person. Advance registration required. Sign up via message or email. Organizers reserve the right to change the time and program. Start: 12:00. Locations: PAULUS Winery (PAULUS Borház), Goat Hill (Kecske-hegy), Lamberg Cellar (Lamberg-pince).

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe: easy hike, outdoor rituals, warm drinks, and plenty of snacks make it fun for mixed ages
+
Great value at about $55 for two tastings, lunch, and a hearty cold platter
+
English-friendly wineries are common in Hungary’s wine regions, and hosts at tastings often speak enough English to guide you
+
Vince Day tradition is a cool, authentic local ritual you won’t find much in the U.S., so it feels special and seasonal
+
Mór wines (especially Ezerjó) are a neat discovery for wine lovers who know Tokaj or Eger but want something less mainstream
+
Compact schedule: three stops in one afternoon with a clear start/end, so it’s easy to plan around
+
January timing means fewer crowds and a cozy, locals’ atmosphere - Mór and Vince Day aren’t internationally famous, so it’s less of a “bucket list” draw than, say, Oktoberfest or Napa events
Cons
Hungarian isn’t strictly required, but registration by message/email and the blessings may be Hungarian-first; expect some language gaps
Reaching Mór is doable but not plug-and-play: about 1–1.5 hours from Budapest by train plus local walking/ride, or driving on winter roads
Families with picky eaters or vegetarians may find the pork stew/cold platter meat-heavy with limited alternatives
