A one-of-a-kind trove of vintage motoring is tucked away at the Kaáli Car and Motorcycle Museum in Dörgicse, where world-famous models line up bumper to bumper — many as the only known examples in Hungary. Every vehicle runs, and each gleams in either pristine original or expertly restored condition. The machines sit in themed rooms flooded with beautiful light and dressed in period-correct decor and accessories. Visits are by appointment only via the museum’s website.

The collection was curated with help from Hungarian and international experts, who advised on acquisitions and background research. Vehicle data plates were compiled by automotive historian Dr. Pál Négyesi, while restoration specialist Péter Nagy left his expert touch across the exhibits. It’s not just cars and bikes either: an American-style diner set brings a slice of mid-century roadside America, complete with jukebox, Coca-Cola vending machine, and iconic furniture — ideally with era-correct cars parked right outside.

Headliners That Steal the Show

Front and center is a 109-year-old FN Model 195, flanked by a sparkling MG TC (1949), Fiat Special F3 (1952), Lea-Francis 14 HP (1953), Alvis TC 108/G Graber-Willowbrook (1955), Borgward Isabella Coupé (1960), Lancia Flaminia GT 2.5 Touring (1960), Facel Vega II (1963), Iso Lele (1971), Lamborghini Espada (1973), and a Rover P5B Coupé (1973).

A Wall-to-Wall Hall of Icons

Row after row features the Ford Model T, Plymouth 30U, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, Bentley Continental R, Aston Martin V8, BMW 502 “Baroque Angel,” Cadillac Series 62, Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, Porsche 356 B, Ford Mustang, Volvo P1800 S, Jaguar E-Type, Maserati Merak, Ferrari 208 GT4, Morgan 4/4, Willys M38, Chevrolet 3100, Alfa Romeo Montreal, Volkswagen Transporter “Samba,” Rover, and the Bitter SC 3.0 coupé — and that’s just the shortlist.
