Knight Action Highlights

The knights of the Order of Saint George select a king and queen from the audience, draping them in royal cloaks and crowns. At the royal command, armored riders march in, displaying medieval weapons in target shooting and fierce duels for royal favor. These duels pack realism, thrills, and laughs, celebrating the knights’ courage and daring. A royal falcon takes flight for extra wow factor, and you wrap up with hands-on weapon trials alongside the knights. Multilingual shows in Hungarian, German, English, and Italian – interpreters available for others. Available for groups of 30+ anytime.

Pros
+
This is a total blast for families, with kids getting crowned king or queen and trying out real medieval weapons hands-on, way more interactive than most US ren faires.
+
Knight tournaments and jousting are super popular internationally, just like the big Renaissance Festivals back home in Maryland or Texas, so you'll feel right at home with the epic battles and falconry.
+
No Hungarian skills needed at all since the shows are in English, German, Italian, and Hungarian with interpreters for others—perfect for us American tourists.
+
Visegrád's spot in the stunning Danube Bend is a hidden gem, but easy to reach from Budapest by train (about 1 hour) or a scenic 45-minute drive, with parking nearby.
+
Compared to similar events like the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin, this one's cheaper at $39/adult and includes a massive royal feast with venison stew and roasted meats that beats basic fair food.
+
The authentic 14th-century vibe at Solomon's Tower with rooftop views and multilingual guides makes it feel more historical than theme-park knight shows in the US or UK.
+
Family-friendly pricing at $20 for kids 3-14, plus group options, and it's all outdoors by the river on Saturdays, great for a full day of fun without breaking the bank.
Cons
Visegrád isn't as famous to foreign visitors as Budapest or Prague, so it might feel off-the-beaten-path and require some planning to get there.
Only running every Saturday in autumn 2026 (with possible date changes), so limited windows compared to year-round or summer-long events like Scotland's Highland Games jousts.
Booking is only through the Renaissance Restaurant email or in-person, which could be a hassle from the US without easy online tickets like Ticketmaster for US fairs.
No drinks included in the feast, so you'll pay extra for wine or juice on top of the ticket, unlike all-inclusive packages at some European medieval banquets.
