Visegrád Knights’ Games Return Every Saturday

Step into 14th‑century Visegrád: Knights’ Games, rooftop views, multilingual tournament, and Royal Feast every Saturday. Family-friendly medieval show at Salamon Tower and Renaissance Restaurant. Book early for 2026 dates.
when: 2026. March 12., Thursday

Visegrád’s living Middle Ages are back in 2026, with the Knights’ Games and Royal Feast running every Saturday at noon throughout the fall. Book early and step into the 14th century at Salamon Tower (Solomon Tower), then feast at the Renaissance Restaurant at 1 Duna-parti út (Danube Riverside Road). The Order of Saint George (Szent György) brings steel, spectacle, and humor to one of the Danube Bend’s most exciting family programs.

How the day unfolds

12:00 – A historical introduction inside Salamon Tower, followed by a rooftop visit.
12:30 – Knights’ tournament outside the tower, with a drink in hand: white wine or apple juice.
13:30 – Royal Feast at the Renaissance Restaurant with a set menu. The show runs in Hungarian, German, English, and Italian; other languages are available with an interpreter. Groups of 30+ can book custom dates.

Be the king or queen

At the start, the knights choose a king and queen from the audience, robe and crown them, then ride and duel to win their favor. Expect archery, close combat with medieval weapons, daring challenges, and a royal hunting hawk wheeling overhead. After the finale, guests can handle and try the weapons under the knights’ guidance.

The feast

Menu: creamy tarragon venison ragout soup with onion–potato dumplings; a trio of mains—whole roasted turkey thigh, honey-glazed pork ribs, and panko-crusted chicken breast—served with roasted potato petals, chive mayo, smoky honey sauce, and apple-braised cabbage. Dessert: ice cream sundae. Drinks are not included.

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibes: armor, archery, hawks, and hands-on weapons after the show keep kids and adults grinning
+
Clear schedule and all-in-one flow (tower intro, rooftop view, tournament, then feast) makes planning easy for a day trip
+
Multilingual show (English, German, Italian; interpreter possible) means you won’t miss the jokes or history bits
+
Good value for a themed experience: ~$38.50 adults/$19.30 kids for show plus a hefty Renaissance-style meal
+
Visegrád is a classic Danube Bend stop near Budapest, so it’s already on many tourist routes and easy to pair with other sights
+
No Hungarian required—staff and performers cover English, and signage in tourist areas is decent
+
Reachability is solid: about an hour from Budapest by car; buses/boat options along the Danube Bend make public transport doable - The Knights’ Games aren’t globally famous like a Disney castle show or a UK joust, so expectations rely on local charm rather than star power
Cons
Public transport can be a bit patchwork (bus + short walk, seasonal boats), so first-timers may find a car simpler
Drinks at the feast aren’t included and extras can add up, which matters for families
Compared to big medieval festivals in France/UK/Spain, it’s smaller-scale—more intimate than epic, but less spectacle overall
