Visegrád is throwing open the gates to the Middle Ages in 2026 with the Knights’ Games and Feast, a rousing family favorite running every Saturday at noon in the fall. Book early if you want in—this is one of the Danube Bend’s liveliest crowd-pleasers. The Renaissance Restaurant is your time machine: step in, and you’re back in the 14th century.

Where and when

Guaranteed dates: every Saturday at 12:00. Venue: Palace House (Palotaház), Visegrád, Duna-parti út 1. The program also includes the Solomon Tower (Salamon-torony) for a historical introduction and a rooftop visit.

Knights, crowns, and falcons

Members of the Order of Saint George stage a spectacle of knightly tournaments, recreating how warriors once fought for the king’s and queen’s favor in medieval Visegrád. It kicks off by choosing a king and queen from the audience, who are cloaked and crowned before summoning the knights. Expect archery, combat drills, and duels performed with realism, thrills, and a dash of humor. A royal hunting falcon takes flight to top it off. At the end, guests can try medieval weapons under the knights’ guidance.

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with audience participation (kids can be crowned king/queen, try archery and safe medieval weapons) and a lighthearted show
+
The medieval/knightly theme is widely recognizable to U.S. visitors thanks to pop culture and Renaissance fairs, so it feels familiar yet authentic
+
Visegrád sits in the scenic Danube Bend near Budapest—well-known to tourists doing day trips, so it’s not an obscure spot
+
No Hungarian required—program offers English (plus German/Italian), and the action is visual, so it’s easy to follow
+
Easy access from Budapest by train+bus or Danube boat in season, and by car in about an hour; compact town makes logistics simple on arrival
+
Pricing is reasonable for a full show plus hearty feast compared with U.S. dinner-theater or Renaissance fair experiences
+
Unique extras like the Solomon Tower intro, rooftop views, and a live falcon flight add depth beyond a standard joust
Cons
Weekly schedule is fixed to Saturdays at noon and the feast at 13:30, which can cramp flexible travel plans
Booking and payment via email at the restaurant feels old-school and may be awkward for international visitors
Drinks at lunch aren’t included and on-site options can add up; limited mention of vegetarian or allergy-friendly alternatives
Visegrád is popular on weekends, so crowds and tour groups can make it feel touristy, especially in peak fall dates
