What Happens on Saturdays
Members of the Saint George Order (Szent György-rend) stage a full-blooded medieval contest echoing 14th-century Visegrád, where warriors fought for the favor of the king and queen. At the start, the knights choose a king and queen from the crowd, dress them in royal cloaks, and crown them. On the monarch’s command, the fighters march in and prove their aim and combat skills with period weapons before the royal couple and their guests. The duels are realistic, thrilling, and sometimes cheeky, capturing the courage and audacity of medieval knighthood. A royal hunting falcon takes flight to spice up the show. At the end, guests can try the weapons with the knights’ help. Dining at the Renaissance Restaurant is available before or after.
