The Vasvári Synagogue on Vasvári Pál Street in Budapest continues to fulfill its mission as a center for worship and Talmud study. Rabbi Baruch Oberlander, head of the synagogue and founder of Chabad Hungary, says their aim is to honor prayer and Torah learning, as emphasized by the Budapest Sász Chevra (Talmud Society).

Weekly Prayer Times

Friday afternoons begin with Minchá at 3:50 PM, followed by the Shabbat welcome with Rabbi Oberlander at 4:20 PM. Afterward, a community Kiddush and dinner are held upstairs at 5:10 PM, then Torah study at 6:10 PM. Saturday mornings start with prayers at 9:15 AM, afternoon Minchá at 3:30 PM, and evening prayers at 4:40 PM. From Sunday to Friday, morning prayers begin at 8:10 AM, and on Thursdays, you can also join via Zoom.

Classes and Programs

Mondays from 9:00 to 10:00 PM, explore the Book of Samuel with Gyuri Szabó. Hebrew liturgy language classes are held Thursdays, 7:30–9:00 PM, followed by a Torah portion discussion until 10:00 PM. Friday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, dive into the weekly portion before the Shabbat service.

Special Kabbalah Sessions

Every Monday at 7:00 PM, Rabbi Oberlander leads open Kabbalah classes at the synagogue—upcoming sessions on October 27 and November 3, 2025.
