This year’s Night of Zoos takes place on August 29, promising wild animal experiences after dark across Hungary. Now in its 14th year, the event brings together multiple venues—including the Pákozd Grove Wildlife Park and Arboretum (Pákozdi Pagony), and the Veresegyház Bear Sanctuary (Veresegyházi Medveotthon) near Budapest—for a united theme: Urban Wilderness.
Urban Foxes, City-Strolling Boars
The focus this year is on animals adapting to city life, from boars and foxes to raccoons and birds of prey spotted on rooftops and in parks. Visitors are invited to learn not only about which creatures have become accidental city dwellers in Hungary and abroad, but also about the dangers these urban encounters can pose. Experts will share how to avoid conflicts and peacefully coexist with city wildlife.
All-Night Adventures Await
Participants can look forward to after-dark guided tours, animal feedings, interactive activities, and a rare chance to see what goes on at the zoo after the sun goes down.
