For three epic days from September 5–7, 2025, Zalaegerszeg (English: Zala Herder Town) turns into Hungary’s wild gastronomy capital. The city center comes alive with a mix of hunting-themed events, culinary adventures, traditional crafts, professional hunting expos, and tons of live music—from authentic folk to modern pop and dance.
Wild Flavors, Local Vibes
It’s not just about incredible wild game and fish dishes paired with regional wines—there’s also a big focus on raising ecological awareness and protecting natural values. Zala County is one of Hungary’s most forested regions, with wild forests covering a third of its land. About 775,947 acres (314,000 hectares) across 52 hunting zones make it a hunter’s paradise, perfectly setting the scene for the festival.
What’s Happening
Expect hunting conferences, dazzling trophy exhibitions, local specialties, artisan markets, and concerts that keep the party going. The grand parade ends at Széchenyi Square’s (Széchenyi tér) main stage with the official opening ceremony.
